If someone is overdosing and you call 911 to get help, you and they will not be charged with drug possession or drug use. Oregon drug laws have changed, but the Oregon Good Samaritan law has not changed and still protects overdose witnesses and patients. If you see someone overdosing please call 911 and if you have it, give them Narcan as soon as possible. You should call 911 even if they have been given Narcan because Narcan is short acting and the person needs additional monitoring after the dose is given.
