Healthy Evanston A community movement and motivation for healthier living!

The temperatures are cooling down, school is back in session, and we are switching to thoughts of Fall, Halloween, Hunting and of course Thanksgiving. Now would be a good time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful colors of Fall. Who knows, you might even see a flock of Geese overhead, or be inspired to go home and make up a delicious soup for your family. Take care of your body and it will take care of you. Happy Walktober!!!

Our goal is to keep you and your children safe in 2020. So far this year, that has been proving to be a challenge. In June and July of each year, we host a SAFE KIDS FAIR in Evanston and Mountain View. We regret we will need to CANCEL both fairs for this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While this makes us sad, we need everyone to stay safe and not attend large group events like these fairs.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope the fairs in 2021 will be bigger and fun for everyone. If you have questions, please feel free to call our office at 307-789-9203 or 307-787-3800.

Office of Homeland Security is trying to help businesses get PPE for their staff so they can follow the State Health Officer's guidance and the new Orders in effect until June 15. See the post below for a link for any non-healthcare providers.

DEADLINE FOR BUSINESSES TO ORDER PPE: 5pm June 1

Funds were earmarked to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for businesses.

To request masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and cleaning spray, business owners can go to hls.wyo.gov and fill out a request there (link is at the very top of the page.) The last day to make a request is Monday, June 1st. Businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

Uinta County Public Health will receive the shipments and serve as a distribution point.

Higher risk businesses where people are in close contact with each other have been asked to utilize cloth masks and gloves to prevent virus transmission in order to open.

This guidance is reiterated in the 5th Continuation of Statewide Public Health Orders to go into effect on June 1. Uinta County Public Health can support businesses in getting signage, and in understanding the orders.

Remember to take care of yourself during this time!

There is a silver lining to our new normal!  As we are all staying safe at home these days with less commitments and social engagements, we have more time to be active!  We also have more time to be focused or re-focus on the things that are really important to us like taking care of our health....

If you call 911, don't be surprised when we show up wearing masks or in full protection like this! We are working hard to stay safe on the front line. When we wear our protective gear, we are just being cautious to protect ourselves and you.

If you feel like you have symptoms of Covid-19 and are not in a life threatening situation, please contact your Doctor before calling 911. Many times your doctor can direct you to the nearest testing site. Evanston Regional Hospital is starting a drive through screening site. The majority of people who have Covid-19 do not need to be in the hospital and staying at home is the safest place to quarantine.

If you do call 911 and are transported, there will not be any extra people allowed to ride in the ambulance with you to the hospital. If the patient is a minor, 1 parent/guardian will be allowed to ride in the front seat and will be asked to wear a mask.

We have wonderful EMT's who continue to answer the call and let's all work together to make a difference and stop the spread.

Please visit www.cdc.gov for detailed information about Covid-19 and be sure to follow the Uinta County Public Health page for continued updates.

There are rumors flying around, and they are JUST RUMORS!

This is the official press release from our County Incident Management Team as of 3:30 Friday afternoon, 3/27/2020.

No Positive Cases in Uinta County Yet. (We Promise to Let You Know!)

As of 2:45pm, 3/27/20, there are still no confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Uinta County.

We are committed to getting you the most up-to-date (while accurate and true) information.

We understand that consistent and clear information is very important to all of us.

Here is what we know right now:
1. Providers are providing for testing in our community. (They are able to take specimens and send them off to labs for testing.) So far all results have come back negative.

2. We do expect to have a positive case in the near future. We are preparing for that.

3. The best thing we can do, with or without a positive case in our communities, is to stay at home, as the Governor has asked, unless absolutely necessary. And wash your hands. A lot. And if you're sick with anything, stay home and away from others as much as possible.

4. If/When there is a positive case, we will let the community know, while protecting the personal information of the person. We will let everyone know who is at high risk of being exposed to a positive case.

This is a trying time, and we are grateful for the support and cooperation of our citizens! So many are finding creative and inspiring ways to help others. Even though we have to stay physically apart, we really are better together.

The numbers in Wyoming have increased AGAIN - we are now at 41 cases here. PLEASE do your part, wash your hands, stay home if you are ill, cover your cough and sneezes, if you get a fever call your healthcare provider so they can triage you over the phone. The sooner we all adhere to the State Health Officer's orders the sooner we get to go back to "normal"

The numbers are ticking up across Wyoming... Now 41 confirmed positive cases.

Avoiding gatherings and continuing to practice social distancing continue to be very important and comprise our main strategy to slow and prevent spread.

Don't give up on hand-washing, either!

Please keep yourself pretty well isolated if you're sick at all.

If you think you need to be seen by a healthcare provider, please call ahead of time so that they can determine the best course of care or testing for you.

For general COVID questions, the state has set up a call center through 211. Residents can just dial 211 within Wyoming and talk to someone for quick answers to general questions.

How are you doing taking care of yourself? Getting a good night's sleep, exercising, and eating nutritious meals are more important than ever.

Exercising regularly helps to burn away the stress chemicals in your body that might be keeping you feeling on edge. Find an online exercise program or take a walk around the block.

Eating a well-balanced and healthy diet not only builds your immune system, it also improves your mental well-being.

And getting a good night's sleep helps your mood, energy levels, and immune system.
