Summer showers have made for odd hours!

Lately we've been in and out of the clinic at some off hours managing and repairing damage caused by not one but TWO incidents (see video).

These chaotic last few weeks have made me increasingly aware of how grateful I am for the exceptional community that surrounds us at Synapse.

From our amazing team who jumped right into the mess (literally) to move furniture to dry spaces and clients to different places, to the incredible partners, old and new, who stepped up and offered locations for us to use in a pinch.

Despite the destruction, we are deeply grateful for all of you and how as a community we have weathered the storm.

Thank you for your flexibility, your understanding, your generosity, and your support - it means everything to me as a business owner!

Behind the scenes at Synapse, Emily (black shirt, middle) has been supporting both the administrative staff and the clinical staff for eight years. Even though she moved to the East Coast several years ago, she has remained an enormous part of our crew, responding to all sorts of scenarios with her characteristic mix of intuition and kindness. She visited us this week and got to catch up with some of the clinical staff over lunch. Emily, thank you for your unwavering commitment to Synapse and your passion for our people. We loved getting in-person time with you!

The Chicago Water Main Replacement Project is happening right outside the clinic’s front door!

This is exciting for some, but the noise and dust is going to be a little overwhelming at times.

🫧 Welcome Karolina, Our Newest SLP

Please join us in welcoming Karolina, who started with us in October and has been seeing clients in the afternoons.

Karolina is passionate about helping children find joy in communication and making therapy a place they look forward to. She believes that building strong relationships is at the heart of growth, which is why she takes time to understand each child and incorporate their unique interests into sessions. One of her favorite reminders for families is to “model without expectations,” encouraging them to celebrate small steps along the way.

She also holds onto a quote she first heard in graduate school: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” -Lao Tzu
