๐Ÿ—ฃ1) Communicate your financial policy clearly & transparently in writing at the first visit or whenever updating your policy.
Many therapist struggle with keeping their patients accountable after they have gotten to know them. Having a clear and transparent policy at the beginning helps you hold others accountable when it matters most.

โš•2) Don't forget to ask for all insurances at each visit.
One of the biggest contributors in lost revenue for therapy practices is not updating insurances at time of service. Often times a facility will only ask at the beginning of the year but life happens and patients or their parent or spouse change jobs. That change can affect how insurance is billed and whether you get paid or not.

๐Ÿ“3) Be specific in your diagnosis codes.
Gone are the days where therapist can use generalized anxiety on every visit and expect to be reimbursed for it. If you are not specific it's not fair to your patient, it's not clear to the insurance, and it's not going to help your business.

๐Ÿ““4) Make complete and accurate notes always.
We get it. You're busy. Setting up a rhythm of complete and accurate note taking at the time of the visit will set you up for long term success.

๐Ÿ”’5) Lock your notes if you want to get paid.
Some therapist like to live on the edge and take a while to lock their notes. The further away from your patients visit you get the more difficult it is to make changes or correction before hitting the timely filing mark.
