Nobody told you migraines were a gut problem. But they probably are. 🧠
Here is something most neurologists will not tell you:
The gut and the brain are connected by the vagus nerve in a constant two-way conversation. And when the gut is inflamed, leaky, or full of the wrong bacteria, it sends distress signals directly to the brain that can trigger migraine episodes.
Here is what the research shows:
🔴 Migraine sufferers have significantly different gut microbiomes than people without migraines
🔴 Leaky gut allows inflammatory compounds into the bloodstream that cross the blood-brain barrier
🔴 Serotonin, the neurotransmitter most linked to migraines, is 90% produced in the gut
🔴 People with migraines have higher rates of IBS, SIBO, and gut dysbiosis
🔴 Treating the gut has been shown to reduce migraine frequency in multiple studies
Other root causes nobody is checking:
🔴 Magnesium deficiency — found in up to 50% of migraine sufferers
🔴 Hormonal fluctuations — especially estrogen drops before menstruation
🔴 Mitochondrial dysfunction — the brain runs out of energy
🔴 Histamine intolerance — certain foods trigger an inflammatory cascade
🔴 Chronic dehydration — even 1-2% dehydration can trigger a migraine
If you have been treating your migraines without addressing any of these you have been treating the symptom and not the cause.
