Text-back: Maybe both — here’s how to tell fast.

• When did it start? If shedding began suddenly within 2–3 months, stress/telogen effluvium is likely.
• Where is it happening? Diffuse shedding all over → stress. Thinning at the part or crown → hormones.
• Any other clues? Hot flashes, irregular cycles, night sweats, or fatigue → lean hormonal.
• Scalp check: itch, redness, or scaly patches → see a clinician.

Want the one-page checklist I use with clients? DM ‘CHECKLIST’ and I’ll send it to you. Quick help, no fluff — I’m replying between boxes. 📦

As a woman who has moved houses and navigated menopause — I can tell you: transitions and hormones speak the same language. When life shifts, your scalp listens.

Here’s what to look for:
• Timeline: sudden shedding within 2–3 months → often stress-related (telogen effluvium).
• Pattern: diffuse shedding vs gradual widening at the part/crown → stress vs hormones.
• Other clues: hot flashes, irregular periods, fatigue → hormonal involvement.
• Scalp signs: itch, redness, scaly patches → see a clinician.

Quick actions you can do today:

Take a weekly photo of your part/crown.
Try a 60‑second scalp massage daily.
Prioritize protein and check iron if needed.
Keep styles loose and gentle.
Asking for help made my move possible — my grown children and husband helped set up my station this week. Don’t be afraid to ask for support with your hair journey.

I’m moving into my new location (Excelsior Springs) this week — virtual consults are open and in-person spots available soon. Message me to join the waitlist or DM ‘CHECKLIST’ and I’ll send a quick 1‑page guide.

About the name:

My business is now The Second Spring Hormone and Scalp Studio. I chose “Second Spring” because in many Asian cultures women entering menopause are celebrated — not dismissed — as they enter the second spring of life. I want this place to be exactly that: a celebration of renewal, clarity, and resilience.

What’s changing (services & focus)
• Focus: Scalp health + holistic hormone coaching tailored especially for midlife and menopausal clients.
• Business model: We are transitioning to a membership-first studio to provide consistent, high-quality care and ongoing support.
• Website: For full details on our new service model and offerings, please visit secondspringkc.com (http://www.secondspringkc.com) .

Founding client benefits (important)

As one of my founding clients, I will honor your current services and prices for one year — through September 30, 2027, so you will be booking all your services through me not the online booking site. After that date, we’ll be moving to the new membership model and pricing. When that one-year mark approaches, I’ll reach out and we’ll discuss which membership will suit you best.

Memberships & next steps
My goal is to offer membership options that make your care easier to access, more effective over time, and more personalized. Current members — we will work together to find the membership plan that keeps your progress on track. If you’d like to discuss membership options sooner, I’d be happy to schedule a quick call.

I’m so grateful for the trust you’ve given me over the years. I’m excited to continue serving you from our new studio and to help you thrive in this beautiful next season of life — with science, compassion, and maybe a little humor when your scalp decides to be dramatic.

Warmly (and with gratitude),
Kerri

Manual Thursday: One Journey, Many Chapters 📖

Plot twist: Menopause didn't just crash the party in your late 40s. Your body actually began writing this story at puberty.

Puberty and menopause are simply matching bookends:
✨ Chapter One: The bud opens and estrogen takes the lead.
✨ The Continuum: Decades of cycles, progesterone buffers, and living life.
✨ The Next Chapter: The blooming of wisdom and the planned retirement of that same system.

When your hormones fluctuate and your hair, sleep, or mood throw a little tantrum, remember—your body isn't broken. It’s just following its lifelong continuum.

Understanding where you’ve been changes how you navigate what’s next.

Writing the manual, one Thursday at a time.

📱 New message from: Your Hormones 🌿
“Plot twist: We didn’t just crash the party at 50. This journey started at puberty.”

Let’s play a quick game of hormone trivia. When does menopause actually begin?

If your answer was “somewhere in your late 40s or 50s when the thermostat in your house suddenly feels like the surface of the sun,” you are in wonderful company. Most of us were taught that menopause is an uninvited guest who randomly shows up decades down the road to mess with our sleep, our mood, and our hairbrush.

Here is the ultimate biological plot twist: your menopause journey officially kicked off the very first day you got your menstrual cycle.

Take a deep breath—this is not meant to make you feel like you are speed-running life. It is simply the roadmap your body was handed on Day One.

Think of your reproductive years like an incredible story arc:

✨ Puberty is Chapter One: Your ovaries wake up, estrogen makes its grand entrance, and your body learns the rhythm of a monthly cycle.
✨ Menopause is the Concluding Chapter: The natural, planned retirement of that exact same system.

Puberty and menopause are the matching bookends of female hormone health. During both transitions, your hormones fluctuate, your skin adjusts, your moods can get a little spicy, and your hair often throws a temporary tantrum.

In your 20s and 30s, each ovulatory cycle gives you the gift of progesterone—which keeps your nervous system calm and helps protect your hair follicles. When perimenopause rolls around and ovulation becomes less consistent, those hormone shifts can leave your follicles feeling a bit stranded, showing up as shedding in the shower or a widening part.

Your body is not broken or choosing sudden chaos. It is simply following its lifelong continuum.

Want the ultimate insider cheat code? Go have coffee with your mom or an aunt and ask what their transitions looked like. Genetics give us the blueprint, but modern trichology, proactive nutrition, and hormone coaching give us the tools to support our bodies through every single chapter.

Swipe through the carousel to see the full 40-year story arc, and let me know in the comments: what is one thing you wish someone had told you about hormones when you were younger? 💜

Real scalp care doesn't start with your morning styling tools — it starts the night before. Here's tonight's follicle-friendly routine:

🌙 Cool the room — keeps body temperature regulated and hot flashes at bay.
🌙 Ditch the friction — silk or satin so your hair slides instead of snags.
🌙 Close the tabs — blue light suppresses the melatonin your brain and follicles need.

Your hair is an engine. Sleep is the scheduled maintenance. 🚗💤

Which one are you trying tonight? 👇
