We interrupt this season of change with a bit of news from cave co-owner Nastia and the big reveal of a project she’s been working on behind the scenes.
Dear Salt Cave Customers & Friends,
Ukraine is part of the story of Soleil’s Salt Cave. It is where I first experienced the healing powers of salt as a child, and where many of my friends and family still live.
When the war in Ukraine started four and a half years ago, many of you inquired about ways that you could help and for that I continue to be deeply appreciative.
Many of you receiving this email are newer members of the Soleil’s Salt Cave family, and I welcome the opportunity to share this special update with you as well.
Introducing Mending Roots
Since 2022, generous donors – including many from the salt cave family – have given more than $70,000 in support of the urgent and evolving needs of 627 adults, children and elders, and to feed and care for more than 255 animals across Ukraine.
While the attention this war is getting in the media has waned as new conflicts and issues take its place in the headlines, the hardships the people of Ukraine are facing are still as urgent and real as they were in those early days.
And when this war finally ends, the needs will not. Recovery – physical, emotional, financial – will take years, if not decades.
This realization, coupled with the continued outpouring of generosity from this community, has inspired me to start Mending Roots, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine – one person, one family, one ”little tail” at a time.

When Daryl and I opened the salt cave ten years ago, we believed we could create a space where healing was possible. Similarly, Mending Roots is about bolstering resiliency and restoring the hope people need in order to move forward.
