Physical therapy didn’t work, so now I’m hobbling around in this boot. So far, I can only say it’s painful and the hobbling is hurting my old hip and back.

I have a little toad living rent free in my garden. I had noticed that something was “digging” in my pots and thinking it was chipmunks. Then after the lawn people left one day I finally saw this little guy. He comes and goes at his pleasure. I hope he’s eating lots of insects.🐜 🪰🦟

I found these while sorting through some boxes today.

My dad, an Air Force pilot, had the opportunity to do incredible things over his 30 years of service. During training prior to serving in Vietnam he lead his men to take over a simulated prisoner of war camp. The story he told sounded just like the show Hogan’s Hero.

The Cold War Tanker Era: From 1961 to 1965, he served as a KC-97 Stratotanker pilot with the 509th Aerial Refueling Squadron at Pease AFB. The KC-97 was a massive propeller-driven tanker that served as the primary refueling lifeline for Strategic Air Command’s B-52 bombers before the jet age fully took over.
The Switch to the Hercules: In 1967, he went through Combat Crew Training to fly the C-130 Hercules. He deployed to Southeast Asia with the 50th Tactical Airlift Squadron. He flew an astonishing 643 combat missions during the Vietnam War.

I recently learned that his bravery is still used today as a textbook example taught to new Air Force pilots graduating from flight school to show them what true courage looks like.
God bless all those who served and who are serving.
