I see it all the time.

Here is what nobody is telling women over 35 about protein.

It is not enough to just eat more of it.

Your body needs to trigger a specific signal called muscle protein synthesis. That threshold requires 2 to 3 grams of leucine in a single sitting. Not spread across the day. In one sitting.

And after 35 your protein receptors get weaker. The threshold gets higher as you age. What worked at 28 does not work at 42. The rules changed and nobody told you.

Here is where most women are getting it wrong.
They never hit 30 to 40 grams of protein in one meal. The signal never fully fires. Your body hears a whisper when it needs a shout.

The source matters too. Peanut butter, cheese, bacon, and milk have protein but carry such a high calorie cost you fill your budget before hitting your target.
And breakfast. Skipping it or swapping it for a protein coffee with the wrong ratios spikes cortisol first thing. Blood sugar swings. Your body holds onto fat as a protective response.

You are not failing the plan. The plan is failing your biology.
