Sometimes being a safe space means being a lil’ gangsta, too.
As someone who has literally held space & supported thousands of people, ran a 7-figure business in the spiritual niches, & been a survivor of horrendous trauma…
I know a thing or 2 about how to hold space & what is sometimes required is the spirit of a gangsta grandma.
No joke.
Just hear me out.
Yes, do your inner work, which I can help you with.
YES, be culturally competent.
Yes, be trauma informed & impeccable.
But, what happens when a boundary needs to be set?
What happens when things go array?
What do you do when someone disgraces you or your students, family, whomever?
Whose responsibility is it to hold shi* down?
As a facilitator of transformation, it’s you sista.
It’s YOU.
And, if you don’t have the skill & the spiritual balls to keep people safe, you may wanna think about how to get the courage to stand up for those weaker or those under your care.
For me, I have learned to take no shi*.
It is my job & my social responsibility to not only hold people delicately, but to be willing to get down & dirty when nature calls.
I may be safe space, but I will NOT stand for harm.
Not in my circles & not on the street.
I will fight when I have to.
I will throw hands.
I will share words.
If necessary.
That takes courage, self trust, skill & conviction.
There’s no room for punks in this field.
So, I ask you, do you have the courage & the skill to stand up for what is right & what will protect if & when it is needed?
I hope you do. Especially if you are working in the realms of spirit because the unseen punks, ain’t no joke either, lol.
Love you & I hope this was helpful.
