5 Warning Signs of Lyme Disease that is Commonly Misses.

Lyme disease rarely shows up the way the textbooks describe, and that's exactly why it gets missed.

In this video, I walk through five warning signs of Lyme disease that doctors consistently overlook, from the rash most physicians misidentify to the cardiac presentation that can be fatal in young patients. If your symptoms have been dismissed or labeled as something else, this is the clinical picture you need to recognize before more time is lost.

It's Lyme disease awareness month.

A few summers ago, I found what I thought was a freckle on my shin. It was an embedded tick β€” and as someone who has personally had Lyme disease and treats it, that moment was unsettling.

Here's what most people don't know:

πŸ”Ή The tick most likely to give you Lyme is a nymph β€” roughly the size of a poppy seed. You won't see it. You won't feel it.

πŸ”Ή Up to 40% of people with Lyme never develop a rash. And of those who do, only about 20% get the classic bull's-eye. Most people have no idea they've been infected.

πŸ”Ή Ticks aren't just a summer problem. They're active any time temps are above 35–40Β°F β€” which means nearly year-round in many parts of the country.

After any outdoor time, run your fingertips β€” not just your eyes β€” over your scalp, hairline, armpits, groin, behind the knees, and between your toes. Feel for a small raised bump.

If you develop fatigue, joint pain, an unusual rash, or flu-like symptoms in the weeks after being outside β€” please don't wait. Get evaluated. Early Lyme is treatable. Late Lyme is much harder to treat.

I put together a full video on Lyme prevention ...watch it below and share πŸ‘‡πŸ½πŸ‘‡πŸ½πŸ‘‡πŸ½

Tag someone who spends time outdoors β€” this is the kind of information most people don't have until they need it.

Contact our office at Fairfield Family Health if you need clinical support.

Warning - This Tick Is SMALLER Than a Poppy Seed
