The Mama Coach - Lexi Luptak Welcome! I'm Lexi and I'm a pediatric nurse and mom to 5 amazing kids. I'm here to help.

“What if you have twins? It’s too hard to feed on demand.” You’re right — it is. So here’s what we actually do: when one
wakes to eat, you wake the other and feed them together. The survival math is real (every 2 hours beats every single hour).
One exception: never wake a preemie just for routine — your pediatrician’s feeding plan always wins. Shoutout to , .lexiluptak , and for giving amazing postpartum education and advice! Check them out!

Are you watching the clock… or watching your baby? 🍼

Responsive feeding was one of the biggest shifts I made as a mom, and honestly it took me a few kids to really lean into it. We’re so conditioned to track ounces and watch the time that we sometimes stop listening to the little person right in front of us.

Your baby is communicating with you from day one. Those little hands at their mouth, the rooting, the turning away when they’ve had enough. That’s their language, and you get to learn it.

When we feed responsively, we’re not just filling tummies. We’re building trust, supporting their nervous system, and honestly making feeding a whole lot less stressful for ourselves too.

As a nurse and a mom of five, this is one of the first things I talk about with the families I work with. It sounds simple, but having someone walk you through what to actually look for makes a world of difference.

If you’re in that newborn haze wondering if your baby is eating enough, or why they seem hungry again already, I’d love to help. Send me a message or find the link in my bio. 🤍

People get big mad when we talk supplementation.

A few things to consider though-

Sometimes, supplementation is the right call.

It doesn’t have to be forever.

It’s ok to ask clarifying questions of the provider making the recommendation.

What’s right for your baby and what’s right for another aren’t the same. Don’t let the internet kill your sense of nuance.

Did you have to supplement? Let’s chat about it below 👇🏻

If your baby is struggling to nurse, please hear this first: it’s not a failure—it’s information. 💛

I want you to know there are real, valid reasons feeding can feel hard:

✨ Babies who had a NICU stay may have learned to feed differently (bottles, tubes, or timed feeds), making the breast feel unfamiliar at first.
✨ Premature or smaller babies can tire easily and may not yet have the strength or coordination to latch and stay latched.
✨ Birth interventions, medications, or a long labor can leave both mom and baby needing extra time to adjust.
✨ Oral ties (like tongue or lip ties) or body tension can affect how a baby latches and transfers milk.
✨ Some babies just need time and practice—feeding is a learned skill, not an automatic one.

And for moms—pain, delayed milk coming in, or feeling overwhelmed can all be part of this too.

None of this means you’re doing anything wrong.

It means you and your baby might need support, guidance, and space to figure it out together.

You deserve help. Your baby is learning. And this chapter—however it looks—is still a story of love and care.

Why have a feeding expert in your back pocket before baby arrives?

Feeding a baby sounds like it would be intuitive, right? For some people, it is! They figure it out and everyone thrives.

For some people, it’s not. Myself included 🙋🏻‍♀️

Supply issues.

Perinatal mood disorders.

Prematurity.

Medical diagnosis.

And on and on.

Going in with a toolbox full of skills and support is the best way to set yourself up for success. Each baby and each journey looks different and that’s ok!

Did feeding come naturally to you?

Myth: Pacifiers cause “nipple confusion” and will ruin breastfeeding.

Fact: Current evidence does NOT show a consistent causal link between pacifier use and breastfeeding problems in healthy, full-term infants. What matters more is whether breastfeeding is well established and whether babies’ hunger cues are being followed.

Myth: Babies can’t switch between breast and pacifier.

Fact: Many babies are able to adapt between different sucking patterns without issue, especially once they have a strong, established latch.

Myth: You should avoid pacifiers completely if breastfeeding.

Fact: Some guidelines suggest waiting until breastfeeding is established before introducing a pacifier—not because it’s proven harmful, but to support early feeding patterns and milk supply.

Pacifiers aren’t the enemy. Breastfeeding success is more closely linked to latch, frequency of feeds, and responsiveness to your baby—not simply pacifier use.

Let’s normalize informed choices based on evidence, not fear. Follow along for more!

We’ve got some new people and I’ve got some new pictures, so let’s do a little intro!

I’m Lexi!

I’m a pediatric/postpartum registered nurse and have been since 2011.

I’ve got five kiddos and yes, I’m done lol.

I’m working on getting my IBCLC this fall to better serve families here in the Rochester NY area. In the meantime, I have my CBS certification and lots of experience to guide me.

I probably ate several pounds worth of those Cadbury Mini Eggs this Easter season and I regret nothing.

I absolutely adore helping families as they add babies, tackle milestones, and climb the mountain that is raising kids. To stand with you as you navigate parenthood is the highest professional honor I can think of.

I’m here if you need me ❤️
