These informal gatherings offer snacks, supportive conversation, and simple self‑care activities for anyone impacted by cancer - patients, survivors, families, friends, and caregivers. Feel free to share this event with anyone who might be interested in attending.

Join us at the Liberty Hospital TreeHouse for an informal gathering for anyone impacted by cancer — those living with it, navigating life after treatment, and the family, friends, and caregivers alongside them.

Enjoy snacks and drinks while connecting with others who understand the cancer experience. Each gathering is a welcoming space to talk through coping strategies and self-care, try hands-on activities, and find practical ways to care for yourself along the way.

Today, we celebrate Labor Day by recognizing the people who make our work possible. From our dedicated partners across the region to our own MCA team, every screening, every outreach event, and every mile traveled is powered by a shared commitment to healthier communities.

We’re grateful for the clinicians, community health workers, researchers, patient research advocates, community members, and countless others who show up every day to expand access to cancer prevention and early detection. Thank you for all you do.

Dr. Alison Banikowski, member of The University of Kansas Cancer Center's patient research advocate group known as PIVOT - Patient and Investigator Voices Organizing Together, added her signature to the ceremonial beam for the new KU Cancer Center before the final floor was topped off. Alison and her organization, Alison's Allies, have been staunch supporters of the cancer center’s mission and growth, and we're thankful her legacy will forever be embedded in the new building.
