Not everyone deserves unlimited access to your energy. ✨

One of the things I've suggested to people over the years is something I call energy boxes.

We all have people in our lives who seem to take more energy than they give. Sometimes they're people we love deeply. And setting boundaries with those people isn't always easy.

So here's a little visualization exercise I like to recommend.

Imagine creating a box for each person who regularly drains your energy.

Now imagine the energetic cord connecting you to that person being attached to their box instead of directly to you.

Give that box a specific amount of energy. YOU decide how much you're willing to give.

Once that box is empty, that's it. They're done for the day, week, or however long you've decided.

No borrowing from tomorrow's energy. No dipping into another box. No draining your own reserves because someone else wants more.

The box is empty. Period.

This isn't about punishing anyone, withholding love, or being selfish. It's about recognizing that you can care about someone without exhausting yourself to meet their every need.

And if visualizing a little energetic box helps you practice those boundaries in real life, then use the box!

You are allowed to love people without giving them every last piece of yourself. 💜

I've been thinking about something we do in the spiritual and energy healing community...

Sometimes I wonder if we've gotten so used to looking for the spiritual meaning in everything that we've forgotten how to just experience being human.

We feel happier and call it an energetic shift.

We finally feel confident and decide we've activated something.

We outgrow something and call it a timeline shift.

We meet someone at exactly the right moment and immediately start looking for the karmic connection.

Something hurts us and we need to know what the universe is trying to teach us.

Something beautiful happens and we need it to be a sign.

And listen... I'm a Reiki Master Teacher. I believe in energy. I believe I've experienced energetic activations and spiritual awakenings myself. I've experienced things that I personally can't explain any other way.

So this isn't me saying those things aren't real.

I'm wondering why we sometimes seem to NEED them to be happening.

Why can't feeling good simply mean... we feel good?

Why can't something beautiful just be beautiful?

Why can't we have an incredible human experience without needing to make it evidence of something bigger?

Maybe it's meaning-making. Humans love meaning.

Maybe spirituality helps us feel safer when life is uncertain.

Maybe calling something an activation gives us permission to acknowledge a change in ourselves that we're uncomfortable claiming on our own.

Maybe ordinary happiness doesn't always feel important enough, so we make it sacred before we allow ourselves to fully receive it.

And maybe sometimes our spiritual beliefs are actually coping mechanisms.

Not necessarily unhealthy ones.

But coping mechanisms nonetheless.

There's nothing wrong with finding meaning in your experiences. Spirituality can make life richer, more connected and incredibly beautiful.

But I also think there's something powerful about occasionally putting down the interpretation and just... being here.

Laugh because something is funny.

Cry because something hurts.

Feel proud because YOU did something hard.

Enjoy pleasure without needing to justify it.

Change becauce humans change.

Let a coincidence be a coincidence if that's all it was.

Let something beautiful happen without immediately asking what it means.

We spend so much time trying to transcend the human experience that sometimes I think we forget...

the human experience was the whole damn point.

Maybe presence doesn't need an explanation.

Maybe being completely here for your own life is spiritual enough.

Hello, fall. 🍂

One of the things I love about the equinox is the reminder that we don't have to experience life entirely through an industrial calendar.

Nature has its own calendar.

Light changes.
Temperatures shift.
Gardens slow down.
Harvests come in.
Our bodies and energy can begin asking for different things too.

For me, seasonal living is about paying attention to those changes and allowing myself to move WITH them instead of expecting the same energy, productivity, and pace from myself all year long.

So today, our family celebrates our Thanksgiving.

We prepare a harvest meal with food grown and raised close to home—some from our own garden, some from our local farmers market, and some from local ranchers.

It's our way of acknowledging the harvest, expressing gratitude for what sustained us through this season, and welcoming the next one.

You don't have to follow an ancient ritual or make the equinox into something elaborate to connect with it.

Sometimes connecting with the energy of the Earth is simply noticing where you are in her cycle…

and letting yourself be there too. 🍂

When did sharing healing knowledge become something we needed to protect from each other?

We talk constantly about abundance, empowerment and helping people grow.

And then sometimes we get REAL possessive about knowledge.

I absolutely believe practitioners and teachers should charge for their services.

Your time has value.
Your experience has value.
The years you spent learning have value.
The way you organize and teach information has value.
Your energy, attention, support and guidance have value.

When someone takes one of my classes, they aren't paying me because I possess some secret information they're incapable of finding anywhere else.

They're paying for the experience of learning it WITH me.

And I think that's an important distinction.

Because knowledge itself isn't something we need to hoard.

Especially in 2026 when you can type almost anything into the internet and disappear down a rabbit hole for six hours. 😂

What starts feeling strange to me is when we begin creating artificial scarcity around healing.

“I won't teach you that because then you could teach it.”

“You can't share what you learned.”

“You need to pay for another level before I'll tell you this part.”

Or treating knowledge that WE were taught as though we somehow created and now own it.

Obviously, there is a difference between sharing knowledge and stealing someone's work.

Don't copy someone's course.
Don't steal their workbook.
Don't reproduce their original material and slap your name on it.
Give credit where credit is due.

Because information and someone's original creative work are NOT the same thing.

And Reiki Master Teacher is probably one of my favorite examples of this.

If I teach someone well enough that one day they feel confident teaching someone else…

GOOD.

That's the point.

Their success doesn't take anything away from me.

There are billions of humans wandering around this planet. I promise we're not going to run out of Reiki students. 😂

The people who connect with the way I teach will find me.

The people who connect with someone else's teaching will find them.

And I think there's something really beautiful about that.

Charge for your work.

Charge for your time.

Charge for the experience, support, structure and energy you provide.

Protect the things you actually create.

But I don't ever want fear that someone else might learn what I know to become the reason I stop sharing it.

Because if we're teaching abundance, empowerment and healing…

our business practices probably shouldn't be rooted in scarcity.

“Protecting your peace” can become another way to avoid healing.

Sometimes you’re genuinely protecting your peace.

And sometimes you’re avoiding the conversation, person, feeling, or situation that makes you uncomfortable.

Those aren’t always the same thing.

Healing isn’t supposed to make your world smaller and smaller until nothing is allowed inside that might disrupt you.

Sometimes healing is learning that you can be uncomfortable and still be okay.

That you can hear something you don’t like without falling apart.

That someone can misunderstand you without you needing to fix it.

That conflict can exist without becoming chaos.

That difficult emotions can move through you without consuming you.

There are absolutely people and situations we need boundaries from.

But I’ve started asking myself a different question when I feel the urge to shut something out:

Am I protecting my peace… or am I protecting myself from having to grow through discomfort?

Because peace that only exists when nothing challenges it is pretty fragile.

I want the kind of peace I can carry with me. ❤️

I abandoned myself again yesterday … even after everything I’ve been learning about choosing myself.

And the wild part is how quietly it happened.

I put in a call to a specialist because I want some answers about what’s been going on with my heart.

They happened to call me back while I was at the hospital getting my heart monitor put on. They explained that before they can see me, I need a referral from my current cardiologist.

The cardiologist I literally just met.

Simple enough, right?

Except almost immediately, I started worrying about how *he* might feel about me asking him to refer me to another doctor.

Would he think I didn’t trust him?
Would it offend him?
Would it seem like I was saying he wasn’t good enough?

And somehow, while I was literally sitting there having a heart monitor attached to my body because we still don’t know exactly what is happening with my heart, I was more concerned about protecting someone else’s hypothetical feelings than advocating for myself.

That realization hit me pretty hard.

Because people pleasing and self-abandonment don’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes they look like being “considerate.”
Not wanting to make someone uncomfortable.
Not wanting to be difficult.
Convincing ourselves that our needs can wait because we don’t want someone else to feel bad.

And I’ve spent a lot of time learning to choose myself. To listen to myself. To honor what my body and my intuition are telling me.

Yet here I am, still learning.

And this time, I didn’t recognize the pattern quite fast enough.

I hesitated. I didn’t make the call. And now the offices are closed until Tuesday.

My instinct to protect someone else from a discomfort that may not even exist actually delayed me advocating for myself.

I can’t undo that part. But I can recognize it for what it was.

And Tuesday, I’ll make the call.

Because healing doesn’t mean we never fall back into old patterns. Sometimes we catch ourselves afterward, learn from it, and choose differently the next time.

I can care about other people’s feelings without making myself responsible for them.

I can be kind without abandoning myself to prove it.

And if you recognize yourself somewhere in this too, maybe we both needed the reminder today:

You are allowed to advocate for yourself, even when doing so might make someone else uncomfortable. We have to stop sacrificing our own well-being just to make sure everyone else stays comfortable.

What if aura colors don’t mean what we’ve been taught they mean?

I’ve wondered about this for a long time…

What if the colors some people perceive in a person’s aura are connected to their chakras—not because chakras are literally spinning wheels of colored light, but because color is simply how our minds translate certain energy?

I’ve never viewed chakras as physical things we can actually see. To me, they’re more like a language for understanding energy.

So maybe when someone perceives a certain aura color, they’re picking up on the chakra energy that is speaking the loudest.

And “loudest” doesn’t necessarily mean strongest.

Maybe that chakra is actively steering the ship.

Or maybe it’s demanding attention because something there needs healing.

Same color. Completely different message.

Maybe the color isn’t the message at all.

Maybe it’s simply showing us where to look. 🖤

There’s something that happens when the person you love repeatedly fails to show up during the moments you need them most.

It starts teaching you things about yourself that were never true.

When you spend years handling your hardest moments alone, especially while having a partner, you start adapting.

You learn not to ask for help.

You learn to handle the crisis alone.

You learn that everyone else's needs come before yours.

You learn to say, "I'm fine. I've got it."

And eventually, you become so good at surviving without support that you can start believing you were supposed to do it alone in the first place.

But you weren't.

Someone else's inability to show up for you is NOT evidence of your worth.

Someone can love you and still fail you.

They can love you and still be selfish.

They can love you and still be really fu***ng bad at showing you just how much you matter.

Don't let their limitations become the way you see yourself.

Your needs matter.

Your fear matters.

You are allowed to need comfort, support and care.

Healing sometimes means unlearning the belief that being "the strong one" means you aren't allowed to need anyone.

And sometimes it means acknowledging a much harder truth:

Being repeatedly left alone in your hardest moments can make you afraid of the future.

You start wondering what happens when life gets harder.

When you get older.

When your body needs more from you.

When one day you simply can't be the person who handles everything alone.

But I'm learning something else too.

I may have chosen someone who doesn't always love me in the way I deserve to be loved.

That doesn't mean the love I dream of is something I don't deserve.

And if you have children watching you, fight like hell to teach them that too.

Teach them to show up for the people they love AND expect the people who love them to show up for them.

Teach them that their needs matter.

Teach them that boundaries and self-love aren't punishments.

They're promises we make to ourselves.

And maybe one of the most important promises is this:

Someone else's limitations do not get to become the limit on what I believe I am worthy of receiving.🖤
