“My jaw clicks. Should I be worried?”
This is a strong post because a lot of people have clicking, but very few know when it actually matters.

DOES YOUR JAW CLICK?
A click by itself doesn’t always mean something is wrong.
Pay more attention when clicking comes with:
PAIN
LOCKING
STIFFNESS
LIMITED MOVEMENT

Does your jaw click when you open, chew, or yawn?
A clicking or popping jaw does not automatically mean you have a serious TMJ problem.
For some people, clicking can occur without pain or other symptoms.
What matters is the bigger picture.
It may be worth having your jaw evaluated when clicking is accompanied by things such as:
• Pain or tenderness
• Jaw locking
• Stiffness
• Difficulty opening comfortably
• Changes in how the jaw moves
• Symptoms that are becoming more frequent or disruptive
At Sleep & TMJ Therapy, Dr. Brown looks at the jaw joint, muscles, movement, bite, history, and other findings together before discussing treatment.
A sound alone doesn’t tell the whole story.
If your jaw is clicking and you’re also experiencing pain, stiffness, locking, or limited movement, request a consultation through our profile.
