One of the simplest ways to calm a busy mind is to notice what’s right in front of us.

The curl of a leaf.
Raindrops collecting on the edges.
The way new growth slowly unfolds without rushing itself.

Stress pulls us into our heads — into the replaying, planning, worrying, fixing.

Noticing pulls us gently back into the present.

Sometimes grounding doesn’t require a big breakthrough. Sometimes it starts with really seeing what’s already there.

The trees never apologize for moving slowly.
They just keep reaching toward the light, season after season.

Maybe we’re allowed to grow that way too.

The garden is planted.
The flowers are finally in.
The crops are in.
And my laundry is behind and there are dishes in the sink.

Sometimes this season of life looks like choosing what mattered most today and letting “good enough” be enough.

And honestly?
That’s still a pretty beautiful life.

There's something hopeful about spring chicks. Tiny beginnings, fresh starts, and a reminder growth takes time. 🐣🤎

Today we celebrate our German Sheperd's birthday.

Anyone who lives or works in agriculture knows animals are rarely "just animals". They're woven into the fabric of our families. They ride along in pickups, wait by the door, walk the fields, calm us after hard days, and somehow always know when we need comfort or levity most.

And because we love them so deeply, the grief that comes when we lose them can feel just as deep.

In rural life especially, animal loss is often quietly carried. We tell ourselves to keep moving because chores still need to be done and the work doesn't stop. But grief over an animal is real grief. The bond matters. The loss matters.

Today as we celebrate our "puppy" turning 2, we're also thinking about every farm dog, barn cat, horse, companion animal as well as livestock, that has helped carry people through both ordinary days and incredibly hard seasons. ❤️

If you're grieving an animal you loved, your pain is valid. If you're grieving a hard calving, lambing, etc. season, your grief is valid.

If you're lucky enough to still have your favorite companion animal beside you today, give them an extra scratch behind the ears for us. 🐶

Feel free to share a photo or memory of your animals in the comments. 🐶🐈🐔🐴🐄🐑

Today is Mental Health Professionals Day, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible people who spend their days holding space for others.

Mental health professionals show up with compassion, patience, wisdom, and care — often while carrying their own stress, exhaustion, and life responsibilities behind the scenes.

To the counselors, therapists, social workers, psychologists, crisis workers, school staff, advocates, and helping professionals in our rural and agricultural communities: thank you.

And to our fellow mental health professionals — we’re here to support you, too. You deserve care, support, rest, connection, and a space where you don’t always have to be the one holding it all together.

Thank you for the work you do every single day. 🤍
