I spent 42 minutes on the phone for one medication review. I was transferred around, told different numbers, put on hold and the supervisor never called me back.
I am not sharing this for sympathy. This is simply the reality of getting patients the care they need. At a small independent clinic, there is no separate department that handles this.
It is slow and it is frustrating, but the person on the other side of that approval deserves someone who will stay with it.
Insurance companies make this process harder than it needs to be, and the providers and patients pay the price for it.
