May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition triggered by gluten that can affect children in many different ways and symptoms and not always obvious.

While some children experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, or bloating, others may present with:
*Poor growth
*Constipation
*Fatigue
*Iron deficiency anemia
*Delayed puberty
*Headaches
*Skin rashes
*Behavioral or mood changes

Because symptoms can vary so widely, many children go undiagnosed for years.

At Dakota Pediatric Associates, we help evaluate and care for children with celiac disease and other gastrointestinal conditions, working to ensure accurate diagnosis, nutritional support, and long-term health.

The good news: with proper diagnosis and a strict gluten-free diet, most children with celiac disease can thrive and feel dramatically better.

This month, we stand with patients, families, and advocates helping raise awareness and support for those living with celiac disease.

Newborn and infant check-ups!

Last week the team enjoyed a morning at the Matthew's Voice Project fundraiser breakfast! Mater even earned some new hardware winning the People's Choice Award! It was a fun morning which included hearing from a panel of students that have been helped by this organization. Hearing them speak about their struggles and how homelessness has affected their young lives really made an impact on just how important this organization is and we were so happy to help raise money to assist them in continuing their mission.
