Spent the morning with the Council for Action on Aging (CCA) — a Wayne County network that has been bringing professionals and community partners together for older adults and their families since 1976.

Today's guest speaker was Simona Surugiu, and her presentation on person-centered planning for dementia patients was genuinely impactful. She walked the room through how to plan around the person — their history, their preferences, what gives their day meaning — rather than around the diagnosis. The kind of session that quietly raises the standard of care across an entire region.

Grateful for groups like CCA that keep aging-services professionals connected, sharpened, and pointed in the same direction: helping our seniors live well at home for as long as possible.

Spent yesterday at the Alzheimer's Association — Greater Michigan Chapter's Walk kickoff. Food, music, and a room full of community partners who all show up for the same families we do.

We're forming a team: Affordable Steps to End Alz. We'll be walking at the Detroit Zoo on Saturday, September 27, 2026 — and every September after that — to raise money toward a cure.

Great morning with SCAN Oakland MI— the Senior Coordinating Aging Network for Oakland County. SCAN brings together home care, senior living, hospice, elder-law, and professionals who serve older adults across our county. Coordination across our network is one of the quietest reasons families get a smoother experience — when a hospital discharge planner, a home-care agency, and a senior-living community already know each other, the older adult feels it.

It's good to know that our friends and partners with Home Care Association of America are doing such great things for our seniors. Keep up the great work!

HCAOA Connecticut members came to the state capitol recently to advocate and show support for the home care industry.

Our Connecticut Chapter co-sponsored Care at Home Day at the Capitol with Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home March 18 at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

The annual event featured remarks from Chapter leaders and lawmakers, discussion of priority policies and legislation, networking with peers and member meetings with state legislators.
