Our Diabetes support group met today with three guest speakers. Shamika McKinsey with Molina Healthcare, who spoke about chair exercises and healthy snack options. Lisa McGowan shared the importance of eating healthy fruits and vegetables in appropriate portions. Registered Dietitian Qula Madkin discussed portion control, measuring servings, and cooking with less salt. She also addressed food preferences and introduced a fresh squash salad that amazed participants—many who said they did not eat squash tried it and were pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted.
