A Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) is a licensed healthcare professional with specialized education and training in nutrition and wellness. Registered Dietitians help people navigate nutrition in a way that supports their overall health, lifestyle, and personal goals.

Dietitians can provide support with things like:
• Digestive concerns
• Chronic disease management (Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Health, etc.)
• Autoimmune Conditions
• Food allergies or sensitivities
• Weight management
• General healthy nutrition
• Meal planning and realistic lifestyle changes
• and much more..

A good dietitian helps you find realistic, sustainable changes that work for YOU — your lifestyle, your schedule, your body, and your goals. Because nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all, personalized support can make a big difference. Nutrition doesn’t have to feel overwhelming, restrictive, or all-or-nothing. Sometimes you just need the right support and guidance along the way.

Come fiber with me ☕😌

One thing about me… I’m going to find a simple way to keep this gut happy and things moving.

I’ve been adding fiber to my morning coffee, and I love that it makes getting extra fiber feel easy instead of like a whole production.

Fiber supports:
Gut Health
Regular Bowel Movements
Colon Health
Feeling A Little Less Backed Up

We’re excited to be partnering with on more education around fiber, gut health, and practical ways to help patients stay regular.

And yes — they’ll be joining us on The Love Below with our dietitian on July 9th. Save the date because we’re talking all things fiber, gut health, and keeping it moving.

A nurse recently saw Dr. King-Mullins’ post about blood tests versus colonoscopy and asked a very real question about her husband preferring stool-based screening tests.

This is exactly why patient education matters.

Blood tests and stool-based tests can be helpful colore**al cancer screening options for average-risk individuals.

Average risk generally means no family history of colore**al cancer, no history of polyps, no symptoms, and no other higher-risk concerns.

But patients should understand that blood tests are not as effective at detecting precancerous polyps.

That matters because finding precancerous polyps can affect not only your own care, but also when your children or siblings may need to begin screening.

More screening options can help improve access.

But informed screening is what helps patients choose wisely.

Talk with your doctor about your personal risk before deciding which screening option is right for you. Or give us a call. 770-325-2275

Food can be part of prevention. 🥦💙

Diets higher in fiber are associated with up to a 20% lower risk of colon cancer — and they also support digestion, gut health, and regular bowel movements.

That does not mean you have to eat perfectly.

It means small, consistent choices can add up:
Berries
Beans
Greens
Whole Grains
Colorful Fruits And Vegetables

And if you need help building a realistic plan that fits your actual life, our Registered Dietitian is available for virtual and in-person nutrition consults.

Eat to feel good.
Eat to support your gut.
Eat to take care of future you. 💙

As a colore**al surgeon, mom of two young kiddos I love having them explore different flavor. Eating the colors of the rainbow is key.

This weekend we tried caramelized onion flavored hummus. They like dipping the carrots and celery in it.

Today’s snack plate: raspberries, pears, hummus, cheese and crackers.
Also budget friendly from

will share in the comments below on the benefits of the components of the plate. :-)

Worried about pain after surgery?

That is one of the biggest concerns patients have before scheduling a consultation for procedures involving hemorrhoids, a**l skin tags, fissures, or other concerns in the a**l re**al area.

Dr. King-Mullins understands that recovery matters just as much as the procedure itself.

Pain and discomfort can come from different sources, including inflammation, muscle spasms, incision healing, and difficulty with bowel movements during recovery.

That is why each patient receives a thoughtful recovery plan and supportive care designed to help make healing more manageable.

T***y Touch Up is not just about the procedure. It is about helping patients feel cared for before, during, and after.

Private consultations are available.

A planned office visit is always better than a surprise ER visit.

Pain, bleeding, bowel changes, ongoing discomfort, irritation, or symptoms that keep coming back should not be ignored.

Many patients wait until symptoms become urgent because they feel embarrassed, nervous, or unsure where to start.

Dr. King-Mullins provides thoughtful, supportive care to help patients understand what is happening and what options may be available.

If something feels off, schedule a consultation before it becomes an emergency.

You are not alone, and we are here to help.

There is new attention today around the Guardant Shield blood test being added as a colore**al cancer screening option.

As a colore**al surgeon, I want patients to clearly understand the difference.

The Shield blood test may help detect the presence of colore**al cancer.

A colonoscopy can help PREVENT colore**al cancer by finding and removing precancerous polyps before they become cancer.

That is a very important distinction.

More screening options can help improve access, especially for people who might otherwise avoid screening altogether. But patients deserve clear education so they can make informed decisions.

Detection and prevention are not the same.

Please talk with your doctor about which screening option is right for you. Or if you haven't had your screening, give us a call.
