Ozark Homebirth is now offering both prenatal and postpartum care packages to those who choose to birth within the hospital system.

Want home birth midwifery care, but not ready to take the leap and birth in your home? Not a problem. We'll give you the care you are seeking, while working with a local hospital to make sure you don't have any gap in care when you walk in during labor.

1hr appts, no rush, provider knows you, your family, and your history.

We will continue your postpartum care once you are home in the Ozark Homebirth style: 24hr after discharge in your home, 1wk PP in your home, 3wk/6wk/12wk PP in the office.

Just got to attend a family for the third time. All three born in the home setting. All three born with Ozark Homebirth, LLC. This is my third family to be able to do such a thing in the last 6mo. WOW! What a great time we've had!!! Thank you so much to all of you that have chosen for us to attend your pregnancies, births, and postpartums more than once. We appreciate it and more than that have loved being a part of your growing families!!!

My weekend:
Friday-head out to a cabin in the woods
Saturday-hiked two new trails and saw several waterfalls
Saturday evening-left out from the cabin and drove 2hrs to my repeat client, had a baby in the early AM on Sunday
Sunday morning-drove straight from leaving the birth back out to the cabin for a dip in the hot tub and then to sleep. Woke up to hang around the fire with friends and make dinner together
Monday-out to hike again and then to head home

If you are PP, many midwives have a 5/5/5 rule and a 7/7/7 rule for first time mamas. Get you a doula and a midwife and learn more about how to care for the postpartum mama. This first month is a time of healing and learning about how to be a new parent. Good planning can help you get the down time that your body needs in order to recover. We can absolutely hop up and do ALL the things. Buuuut, we shouldn't!

Did you know? A recent systematic review and meta-analysis of the impact of midwifery continuity of care found significant impacts on labor, birth, and maternal/infant outcomes. Birthing parents were more likely to birth vaginally and after 37 weeks gestation, and less likely to have a cesarean, episiotomy, or induction of labor.

Consider what continuity of care looks like in your community, alongside access to midwifery care. How might you support clients in your community in advocating for greater continuity where it’s an option for them?

This is what we hope to find in your house during labor. One of my favorite things to do (if Grandma or doula isn't there and getting to it first!) is to go make a hodge podge plate to replenish energy levels and get that blood sugar stable after the effort of labor and birth. This plate is a great example of after labor foods: fruit with skin (fiber and other nutrients), vegetable (fiber and other nutrients), dairy (if you can have it, protein) protein (savory), protein (sweet), dark chocolate (iron). Notice that nothing is cooked. A charcuterie type plate is so perfect for the postpartum time!
