"The University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Madrid, with support from by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and by the FEDER funds of the European Union (PSI2016-75915-P), have initiated a new study focusing on the effects of membership in groups with abusive practices, especially the difficulties in leaving such groups and adjusting to life afterwards. The aim of the study is to create a base of data to better inform caregivers who work with people leaving high-control abusive situations by highlighting the special needs of survivors.

"Even if you have not been in a group where abusive practices took place, we invite everyone to take the time to participate, as the more data gathered, the more accurate picture will emerge. Participation is anonymous.

Breath-holding, shallow breathing, even asthma, can all be related to trauma response.

What would it be like to finally exhale? To really breathe again?

I offer trauma-informed support, including counseling for religious abuse or oppression, for adults and adolescents. Together, we can find the path to release the breath you've been holding.

Fundamental churches enforce strong structures of belief on their members and imply that any problems these beliefs create are the fault of the individual. Often, this is part of what encourages people to leave the church. But when your cosmological structure is stripped away, what is now used to explain existence? Science does a good job with objective facts, but there is more to life than can be explained by objective facts.

Come talk with other exMormons about what you believe and what you're struggling with. This Saturday, March 4, 2:00-3:30p.
