Ashley House Ashley House NW provides comprehensive cost effective quality care to medically fragile children and young adults in a home-like setting.

Ashley House NW is a nonprofit agency whose purpose is to serve young adults and children with special health care needs and their families. Ashley House is dedicated to helping families build new lives together with their medically fragile children. We provide high quality, cost effective health care in home-like settings to children as an alternative to hospitalization. Ashley House was created

in 1989 to fill a gap in services to medically fragile children. Prior to the creation of Ashley House, medically fragile and complex children, for lack of proper alternatives, stayed in hospitals longer than necessary, resided in adult nursing homes or were placed out of state far away from their families. When children with severe medical diagnoses leave the hospital they often still need complex medical care. Ashley House provides transition between hospital and home for children who are technology dependent. At Ashley House a child can receive very skilled nursing care while the family adjusts and prepares for their child’s homecoming at a much lower cost than if the child stayed in the hospital. The overall goal of the Ashley House program is to help families cope with crisis by providing a warm, caring environment in which they may learn how to meet the demands of their child’s disabilities and illness. Ashley House is governed by an outstanding Board of Directors who represent several community sectors: legal, medical, financial, education. They are dedicated to supporting the mission of Ashley House and to upholding their fiduciary responsibility of being good stewards of the community resources that make Ashley House possible.

Last week, we were inspired by The Ability Experience - Journey of Hope team as they joined us at our Auburn house, spreading joy and laughter with the kids through dinner and playtime. At Ashley House we KNOW summer has arrived not by looking at the calendar, but when we see the Journey of Hope riders from The Ability Experience ! This morning, 26 young men from Pi Kappa Phi houses across the country kick off their bicycle journey to raise awareness and support people with disabilities, a journey that ends in Washington DC. Tonight, our Auburn House will host them for dinner! Have a GREAT first day riders! Ride Safe!

This THANK YOU THURSDAY we give a shout out to Scouting America, Troop 420, in Bothell, for taking the time to w**d and clean up the grounds at Bridges to Home in . It was a lot of work, but they did a great job!
