After years and years of testing and diagnoses Kaylee(our oldest) was diagnosed with Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome better known as MALS. She under went laparoscopic release surgery for that in 2016. We thought we would be on the upswing from there, but little did we know that a few years down the road Kaylee’s pain started to return. This means that we could be looking at another surgery for her....and if that isn’t bad enough Paige (our 2nd daughter) was diagnosed with MALS now as well.

Now we have learned a few new things since Kaylee’s surgery. The first being that the laparoscopic approach was not the best choice (in our opinion) for many reasons and one of those is the chance of regrowth (which is what we think is happening to Kaylee). 2. The surgeon that performed Kaylee’s surgery (although she is amazing) would not have been our choice if we had known what we do now. Third this doctor we are going to now is the founding Doctor for this condition/procedure.

PJ(Paige) had her first appointment with this doctor tonight and it has been decided that our next course of action is to fly out to CT to have a celiac ganglion block. If this block gives her pain relief for any amount of time than we will proceed with scheduling her surgery. That would mean another flight out to CT. This would entail 5 days inpatient post surgery and another 1-2 weeks stay in CT at a hotel to wait for her post op check.

As you can tell the bills for this are racking up fast. Although our family will do as much as we can ourselves we do not have the means to do all of this alone.

Here’s a few pictures of recent medical trips.

Along our journey to fund medical expenses for our family we are finding it very difficult with little to no help at all. We are creating this page to try to help fund medical expenses for families and will focus one family at a time. (Right now the focus is on our personal medical funding needs.)
