Because transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is not available in many places in Florida, and it is an evidence based, noninvasive treatment scientifically proven to improve brain disorders and mood disorders including memory loss in Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s, Autism, ADHD, treatment resistant depression, recovery from stroke, OCD , and more, we get many phone calls from community members with questions about insurance coverage. I believe this post will be helpful to those wondering about cost: -Does my insurance cover it? Yes, but only for depression that has not improved with medication and for OCD. The scientific community is working to change this; unfortunately and not surprisingly, insurance regulators favor pharmaceuticals. If you have any of the other problems mentioned above and you also have Depression or OCD, reach out to us for a consultation to see if you can benefit from the treatment, as your insurance will likely cover it. -Will I need preauthorization? Depends on your insurance. Medicare recipients do not need it. We can schedule you right away. Tricare members do not need one, but need a referral from their P*P ( on base doctor if active duty) Most commercial insurance require either preauthorization or p*p referral. - Will MAPS PSYCHIATRY handle the insurance process for me? Yes we will. We are used to the fight with insurance and you will not be scheduled until we get the approval. -Is there a waiting list? The wait will not be longer than six weeks, as every six weeks a group of patients finishes the treatment. -Do you accept self-pay patients? Yes! It is costly but worth it. The cost is $190/ session. The prescribed number of sessions for depression is 36 sessions. It is important that they are administered daily for 18 minutes each. If you have been to a place where they did it “once or twice a week” they stole from you. It is a commitment If it is to be effective. MAPS PSYCHIATRY AND WELLNESS has different clinics on the island. Our psychiatrists and TMS treatment team is in our Amelia Park office and the number to call is 904-310-9652. If you are interested in learning more visit our page and click on the Neurostar purple button at the top of the page or give us a call. We are open seven days a week. We also offer tons of other mental health and wellness treatments. Www.mapsintegratedwellness.com

Per your request, I have created a space for women of all ages at MAPS. The group initiative will involve free monthly meet-ups for support and discussion, sometimes virtually, sometimes at my clinic, and a Facebook group where I will invite members to ask questions and vote on topics of discussion every week, and I will post question/answers every week. Initially, I was approached to create a group for women in their 40s, and my investigative process showed me women of all ages in our community are in need of support and connection. As many know, I work with a team of mental health and health experts I can invite to participate. We can discuss nutrition, hormones, fitness, mental health, boundary setting, emotional processing, community resources, hormones, adjusting to aging and transitions, starting over, skin care..you name it and I will make it happen. MAPS has a studio that fits about , maybe...20 of us; in my office we can have about 10, and our outdoor space at times has held 200 people. Once a month, we can turn my place into a celebratory space. We can have birthdays, art classes at sunset, maybe a yoga class here and there, and just take a break. I do these things for free because the reason why my company has grown is because we have focused on giving rather than always taking, and because of your kindness and generosity. If you want to learn more about my background visit our website [www.mapsintegratedwellness.com](https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mapsintegratedwellness.com%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExQlFNZzhUQmFNcjlFRmxRa3NydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR5dTjwtb8cb3CohDoE5VOyfBrJ6Cpt_3CQYNxBIq6MWo1jzir7UHglQM0TeQQ_aem_Boz92NSjrfkjhTXFFbNE_Q&h=AUBkkWVpPIveaKIE2qyZjmgruJICk2BPdlipF7vylgVOh751GErLzu3v6MlT-soDd-2ZtbjKOyAHglpUVkxDf2E73XG7S5u25CZTQLf9qeWcmAMabZR9ybiehzkE68N3fknRJUHepTO9XotVZwwV6SAlTSbIaA&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AUBtxwkGDGqBcZpTfuwhI_o1NpRgCSqgGmLxzbzI4C90p_MvpUhEeNA1LswNcyxhMCwqtRa-Vtb33WlFFZDOCYRNNbVgi2tQbNqh1YUaMuopm2bUyuCuHxPIM7EbUmjGNSfjl1Jo3yAY5WU5VFhceyGgK3u4B5wcfN4edAAM7oqpXVlb0xyAQT9x0JgUL5AS1NOXfZtztRmnw_e5iDKae1NiiIP3MEA) and my bio is under TEAM. Hi this is Dr. Barreto, clinical and medical psychologist. For a while I have been asked to create a community for women experiencing all the changes that are bestowed upon us by nature in our 40S. Recently, I offer to run a free group once or twice a month and started the investigative process I usually have before starting something (I am always building something). In gathering feedback regarding what women in our community need, what times can they attend, should there be a virtual group or in person in the clinic I own (Maps integrated wellness on the island), what topics interest you etc, I heard from many women younger than 40 and older than 60 telling me they wanted to be included in the group. On this picture (I'm the one on the right) I was hanging out with friends from multiple ages and we realized, we all experience fatigue, we all have way too many demands to meet, we all have insecurities, fitness routines that never happened, confusion about what to eat, way more supplements in our cabinets than we can actually benefit from, fears about being good enough somewhere or drinking too much wine, and we all love our pajamas (and yes, parties too). We are facing a world where we are told we can have it all (which is nothing but an euphemism for "you are expected to handle it all" ) and feel guilty about resting even when we are alone. So, I decided to start an intergenerational virtual and in person group. My plan is to have discussions on different topics every weekend virtually (facebook group) and an opportunity to meet in person for a support/therapy session. If you are interested email me through the contact section of our website or comment here if you are comfortable doing so and tell me what topics interest you. I do not always trust messenger but I think you can message me through Facebook. Hormones, energy levels, friendship, romantic relationships, s*x, what time of day is best to exercise depending on age, what diet is better, transitions, starting over, etc? Anything that is meaningful to you I can use to structure the weekly discussions and meet ups. Once I figure out details, I will post a link for those interested in joining the facebook group. To email me through our practice's website go to Contact at www.mapsintegratedwellness.com. Feel free to check out our team while you are there! Again, the group meetings at the clinic will be free.

Hi this is Dr. Barreto (owner of MAPS). I want to thank our clients for being so patient as we figure things out with the TMS service and open more availability. The TMS ( Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) treatment for depression and Alzheimer’s project has been a success. So here is us again renovating yet another office in case we need two TMS chairs. The first group that started their daily 36 sessions in April graduates next month, and June is already booked with new patients. It has been fun to see them every day. Raul plays fashion videos and 80s movies or monster trucks and car chases and may even teach *some how to read music during their treatment. There seems to be this joy around these 18 min daily treatments that I’m sure has something to do with Raul and the fun person that he is, but mostly with the feeling of getting better, feeling a dark cloud lift. The state of the room I’m standing in on this picture reflects what life has been lately. Under construction. In the past weeks, Beth and I have been yelling and screaming at insurance companies on the phone as they delayed their payments…because they are not used to so many people using this service and we do not bill patients for wrongful denials, we fight the insurance companies for the patient (we always win after hours demanding to talk to the manager). We just got our first payments for the treatments, and there is no stopping us as long as God wants us to continue. If you have been thinking about TMS as a treatment for depression or memory loss, go to our website to the Neurostar question and answer section. and remember these would be daily treatments at the same place that throws a Cuban party with drums once a year 😜 https://www.mapsintegratedwellness.com/neurostartherapy

My father in law getting the 3 minute intensive TMS session. Insurance only covers the 20 minute one, but we offer a very competitive self pay rate. The 3 min session is done quickly at a higher intensity and it only requires 20 sessions. This can be done in a day. If interested call or text 904-310-9652.

Meet MAPS new doctor!

Greetings! My name is Dr. Jalesa Johnson, and I am thankful to be part of the MAPS team in Amelia Island. I hold a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology and a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Washington DC. My educational and field experience included assignments at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington DC and the ·Federal Medical Center in Rochester, with a concentration on forensics, psychological evaluations, and treatment of diverse populations including military members, civilians, inmates, and children. I specialize in treating schizophrenia spectrum disorders, bipolar disorders, and personality disorders. I also treat individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder. In addition to psychotherapy, I will be conducting neuropsychological assessments at MAPS.
I am a strong believer in client centered therapy and teamwork. I will be right by your side on your journey to becoming the person you were always meant to be. Remember, your journey is not like any others, and this moment when you are reading this profile is where yours begins.
While I enjoy creating and embarking on diverse therapeutic journeys with each of my clients, I also enjoy diversifying my time outside of work. Spending time at the beach is one of my favorite things to do in addition to bowling, going to the movies, traveling, attending carnivals/fairs/festivals, and crocheting.
I look forward to working with you soon!

Dr. Barreto finished decorating the transcranial magnetic stimulation room and scheduling for brain mapping starts this week. There are more people on the waiting list than what we can handle in the next seven weeks, but we will schedule as far out as we have to and who knows, we may get a second chair and move people up. Don’t worry, Carin’s wrath after hearing we have to call so may people on Monday is reserved for her boss. Dr. Soleh just puts up with our shenanigans!
