LASER RESURFACING- Dr. Hal London

Dark spots on the skin are common. They are most often solar lentigo like you see in the photos today. These are caused by sun exposure.

Why do people get more dark spots and wrinkles on the left side of the face? ( keep reading, answer is found at the end)

There are a few ways I can lift pigment from the skin. Fade creams help but take weeks to months to be effective. I prefer mechanical means using acid peels or my CO2 laser.
In addition to removing dark spots, an aggressive CO2 laser treatment οΏΌimproves fine lines and wrinkles and has a skin tightening effect, especially under the eyes.

I had two laser patients this week. Some doctors wont do a laser in the spring and summer. I have no problem doing laser treatment this time of year as long as my patient is compliant with sun avoidance for a week or so. I spend considerable time discussing how sun not only causes the pigment but that maintenance sun protection will keep the spots from reappearing.

The procedure takes about 20 min after 45 min of numbing cream and anesthetic nerve blocks to make the procedure tolerable.
You will be swollen and red for a few days followed by a pink tone to the skin for a week or two.

I love my CO2 laser. It is a powerful tool for skin rejuvenation and no other practice on Amelia Island has one.

FOREHEAD CREASE- Dr. Hal London

I haven’t seen her in many years but I use her 2018? photo(with permission) to teach about the glabellar frown line.

It’s caused by skin folding during expression. The repeated frown or squint folds the skin and over years causes a vertical scar like crease.
These lines are seen increasingly after age 40, even sooner in sun damaged skin.

A resting face projects emotion and this increases with age. As we age expression lines often become visible even when we are not expressing. Why? The skin ages, loses elasticity and creases like paper. These expression creases become permanent and the result is your face emotes even when you’re not feeling it.

I like to remove all the negative emotagens( made up word) from the face if possible. In her case, the crease is a negative and might project stress or anger when she is truly calm and happy.

IMPORTANT TIP : SIDE SLEEPING CAUSES AND WORSENS FACIAL LINES.

Any vertical facial crease deepens with side sleeping. Your face is pushed into the pillow for hours every night folding skin and worsening your expression lines and folds. I preach BACK SLEEPING as a face saving measure. Start with pillows under the knees to train yourself. It takes patience and good sleep should take priority over wrinkles. @

LIP ENHANCEMENT 5-28-26

Freshly injected lips for today. She is young, wanted bigger lips. Trusted me not to mess them up. I promised I wouldn’t.

She has a naturally beautiful lip shape which makes my job easier. All I did was add volume to her lips strategically, being careful not to alter her natural features.

They are swollen now and she may shed a little tear in a few days when the swelling goes down, but I can add more later if she wants. It’s easier and more effective to add later then try to dissolve excessive filler.

DYSPORT FOR GUMMY SMILE AND CROWS FEET- Dr. Hal London

Dysport is my neuromodulator of choice and has been for 14 years. It’s fast, effective and predictable. It’s also less expensive for my patients. I used Botox early in my practice but abandoned it when Allergan got excessive with their pricing. I’ve tried ALL of the currently available FDA approved toxins( currently six) but patients love the results I can get using Dysport and I have no plans of changing.

LIPS AND LINES AROUND THE MOUTH - Dr. Hal London

Lips age. They flatten and lose shape. Lines around the mouth are extremely common even in non smokers. Together, they are ripe targets for my treatments to remove age from the face.

Lips lose volume with age leaving them flattened and asymmetric. Shape is lost especially in the central upper lip( Cupid’s bow and philtral columns). Restoring this volume must be done with precision and taste. We have all seen poorly done lips around town. Who you go to really does matter in my business. I see plenty of patients who wind up spending double the amount to have their lips fixed by me after going for the least expensiveοΏΌ treatments first.

Lines around the mouth are super common even in non smokers. Anything that causes repeated lip pursing such as eating, speaking, using straws and water bottles, and of course smoking will do it. Treating lip lines is often requires multiple modalities, such as Botox, filler, and laser treatments.

οΏΌ Levator labii superioris alaeque nasi, it’s the muscle with the longest name and is largely responsible for the gummy smile( excessive gingival display).

This 2 minute treatment lasts about 3 months and is pretty amazing. I treat this several times a month in patients that would benefit.

The lower face ages in predictable ways, though it manifests uniquely in every patient. The effects of fat loss, bone loss, loss of skin elasticity, and gravity's downward pull all contribute to lower face aging.
Adding dermal filler in the proper places and in just the right amounts can attenuate these changes giving you a more youthful look. Check it out.

The Ergotrid is the area between the upper lip and the nose. It elongates and flattens with age. It’s a little discussed target for enhancement that I treat regularly.
The non-surgical approach involves everting the upper lip to give the appearance of a shorter Ergotrid. This must be done in a reserved fashion and with artistry to yield a natural looking result.

Her bottom lip had normal age related flattening and inversion. Adding just the right amount to the central 1/3 did the trick. Lovely.
