🪦Introducing Grief Walks at Elmwood Cemetery

I’m honored to offer my first guided Grief Walk in collaboration with Elmwood Cemetery, a historic, park-like setting known for its monuments, notable figures, and thoughtfully designed landscape. With rolling hills, a creek, and elements of Gothic architecture, it offers a naturally quiet and reflective environment.

🖤Grief doesn’t always need more words
it often needs space to move

These walks are designed for anyone carrying loss, change, or emotional weight. You do not need to have a loved one buried at the cemetery or a specific reason for attending, all grief is welcome.

✨Each walk includes light guidance, time for personal reflection, and the option to be in quiet community with others. There is no pressure to share or participate in any particular way.

🕊️Benefits of a grief walk:

>>Gentle movement can help regulate the body and reduce emotional overwhelm

>>Walking supports processing when thoughts or feelings feel stuck

>>Being in a shared space can reduce the isolation that often comes with grief

>>The environment offers a natural place for reflection and perspective

🕯️This is not a therapy session, but a grounded, structured space to be with your experience, however it shows up

As many of you know, Drifter has come to an end. Death Café was one of the many monthly groups that called Drifter home…

and this month, May 6th, would have marked two years 🥳😢

✨To honor that anniversary, we’re gathering anyway… just in a new space!

We’ll be meeting at Jim’s Community Corner 👩🏿‍🤝‍👨🏼👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏿👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏽

>> A Death Café is a non-religious, non-therapeutic gathering where community comes together for open, group-led conversations about death, dying, and what may come after.

>> Death Doulas are non-medical support people who walk alongside individuals, families, and communities before, during, and after death. We offer emotional support, practical guidance, and space for honest conversation around end-of-life and grief. This work brings death back into community care, rather than leaving it solely in the hands of institutions.

As Death Doulas, we honor all endings🕯️the quiet, everyday losses as well as the profound ones. These “little deaths” move through the same core processes we face at the end of life: change, letting go, and transition. Learning to meet them here helps us meet the final one with more awareness and less fear.

Little deaths are everywhere

They feel like New Year’s Eve energy

you build something up
you expect it to feel different

and when it doesn’t
something quietly collapses inside you

That moment?

That is a little death

What little deaths have you experienced?

Not all death looks like a last breath

Some deaths are quiet
Internal
Easy to overlook

Something ends
and you’re expected to keep going like it didn’t

So it gets called confusion
Or burnout
Or being “lost”

But a lot of people aren’t lost

They’re standing in the middle of an ending
they were never taught to recognize

I’ll be breaking these down over the next few days

Save this
you’ll want to come back to it

There’s a kind of grief that doesn’t stay still

It shows up in the middle of your life
in the changes you didn’t plan
the identities you’ve outgrown
the relationships that didn’t continue

This is the grief that asks something of you

Not to rush forward
but to pay attention to what’s shifting
and how you want to move with it

Meaning isn’t something you have to force

It develops over time
as you begin to understand what’s changing
and what you want to do with it

If you’re in that space
I work with people right there
inside the movement of it
