😬 Peripheral vascular access is one of the most common procedures performed in healthcare—yet for patients with difficult venous access (DIVA), repeated insertion attempts remain a frequent challenge.

New findings published in the Journal of Vascular Access highlight an important disconnect:

📌 83% of units report having ultrasound available
📌 Only 37.7% of staff nurses use ultrasound for PVAD placement
📌 Just 26.1% report being very confident using it
📌 Only 23.2% have received formal ultrasound training

As ultrasound access expands and vascular access responsibilities broaden across clinical teams, education and confidence become increasingly important to improving patient experience and outcomes.

In our latest blog, we explore the gap between ultrasound availability and clinical confidence—and the opportunity to support clinicians through training and early escalation strategies. Read more: https://bit.ly/4nNfC9K
