Your pain tolerance actually changes throughout your menstrual cycle. In the week leading up to your period, your estrogen levels drop, and your body becomes more sensitive to pain. This means that something that might feel like a little sting at other times can feel like you're being skinned alive just before your period.
It's not just you being a baby science actually backs this one up.
So, if you're planning on getting waxed, try to book it during your follicular phase, when your pain threshold is higher and your skin's less likely to freak out.
If you do end up booking it right before your period, just know you're not alone in wondering why the hell you decided to put yourself through that. The good news? At least you'll be smooth while you cry.
