For the next two weekends, Saunaty is bringing wood-fired sauna heat to North Beach Park, right on the edge of Lake Michigan.

If you’ve never stepped into the lake when it’s this cold, this is the way to do it. Warm up in a 200° sauna, walk down to the water, take the plunge, then return to the heat glowing, buzzing, and weirdly proud of yourself.

It’s not just a sauna session.
It’s an otherworldly experience in nature.

Sauna hydration is not just chugging plain water right before you climb onto the bench. It starts earlier.

Before sauna, fuel your body with water-rich fruit: watermelon, oranges, grapes, berries, cantaloupe, cucumber. Fruit brings water in a whole-food package, wrapped with fiber, minerals, antioxidants, and natural sugars your body can actually use.

After sauna, replace what you sweat out. Water matters, but so do minerals, especially sodium. Add a pinch of sea salt, coconut water, or clean electrolytes after heavy sweating or multiple hot/cold rounds.

Our primate biology has a deep relationship with fruit. Sweet, juicy, mineral-rich foods have been part of the human story for a very long time. Sauna just reminds you how much your body still loves simple things: water, fruit, salt, heat, cold, breath.
