Today is the start of National CPR and AED Awareness Week.

If you contact me to schedule a class this week, I will take $10 off of the normal fee per person. Classes must be scheduled by June 7 for any time between now and August 31.

New American Heart Association Cardio Pulminary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines were announced last week. Some of the changes noted were how infant compressions are performed as well as FBAO (foreign body airway obstruction) relief is performed in children and adults.

If you have taken one of my classes, I encourage you to sign up to receive email updates from AHA. The changes made are science-based, and it is the easiest way to stay up-to-date.

Today is the day that American Heart Association CPR Providers find out the 2025 Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care!

The AHA, in collaboration with the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), continuously evaluates evidence. If a major update to treatment recommendations is needed between the five-year cycles, the AHA may issue "focused updates".

Broad updates: The five-year guideline revisions impact all AHA-certified programs, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Look for these updates to be implemented in classes in early 2026.

One in five people will die early from cardiovascular disease (CVD), which claims more lives than cancer and chronic respiratory diseases combined. Yet, up to 80% of heart disease and stroke cases are preventable.

This is the 25th Anniversary of World Heart Day.

I was diagnosed with CVD several years ago, and I became an American Heart Association CPR Instructor.

This year's theme is "Don't Miss A Beat". Please take some time today to spend with those you love. You can help raise awareness of CVD and its impact by taking part in World Heart Day activations and sharing your stories.

Millions of lives can be saved if governments expand care and screening for CVD. That’s why we’re calling on governments to act now, with a plan to help 500 million more people get the treatment they need by 2030.
