This big girl is coming to visit NCH tomorrow! We’ll be bringing our donations from Cora’s birthday NICU drive, and we’ll have lunch for C4A staff too! We’re thinking Chipotle or Chik-Fil-A?

Cora is TWO😭 How!?

Her birthday party could not have gone better (except for me forgetting the forks for the cake… oops!), and she’s growing leaps and bounds!

She is regularly sitting herself up, getting into quadruped, crawling backwards, babbling, and exploring her world more every day!

Her PIP will officially be in the TEENS this week, which means we’re going to start sprinting! We did a few small sprints last week, just a minute a day, but this week we’re able to increase as tolerated.

We will be making our big NICU donation later in July, and we hope to see many of you when we’re there!

I wish I could send this to some of our NICU nurses🫶🏼 Thank you for helping me learn how to be Cora’s mom.

After several weeks of no appointments, we're heading back to Columbus! We had a little break from appointments for a while, but we have several in May.

Coming up this Wednesday, we'll be heading to Pulmonology to see Dr. Giunta to talk about cpap and sprinting! Can you believe Cora's on a PIP of 26 now?! I remember when she was in the 50's and struggling. We're so grateful to be out of that season, but equally grateful for all the things it taught us.

We're also meeting with Dr. Ali in Endocrinology this month to begin Cora's FINAL enteral med wean - Cortef! We should get a (bittersweet) discharge from Dr. Mifflin in Complex Care later in May, and we will be back at the Feeding Clinic with Dr. Braswell to talk about oral feeding progress. Spoiler alert... Cora's LOVING her purees and just needs to work on swallowing a bit more consistently!

Thank you for all of the love and support. We miss our friends at NCH and we hope to get to see you sometime this month when we visit!

Girlie updates!

We finally got our tomato chair! She is sitting independently and just needs a little help to get into the right position.

Feeding therapies are going well. We were approved to advance to more tastes, without her feeding/speech therapist present!

Camp Cora is coming up in June! If you’d like details on celebrating her birthday with us, send me a message and I’ll get you the info💛

Girlfriend has a DLB + ABR on Friday! We’re hoping to finally be cleared by audiology😅 (she had rhino for her last AVR, so there was fluid in her outer ear), and hoping for no change on her bronchoscope and laryngoscopy. We hope to wean her PIP again next week, as we get closer and closer to sprinting someday!

Bryce and I will be around the hospital during her scope Friday so we will call up to C4A if any friends want to say hello while we anxiously wait for Cora to get done💛

We hope everyone had a nice Valentine's weekend! I almost didn't post this because I look ridiculous but I couldn't gate keep how freaking cute her laugh is! It's one of the first times we could really hear it well.

This big girl has a follow up with the feeding clinic on Thursday! We will come after her appt (noonish?) to visit our friends in the C Lobby of main campus. We love seeing any and all familiar faces from C4A!

Cora's been busy lately! She's rolling independently and her trunk control has come leaps and bounds in the last couple of months, so sitting and crawling are right around the corner. Cora is officially a big girlie now that she's off her va**um and only taking hydrocortisone. I swear the va**um being off has created so much clarity for her.

We're grateful to be able to get a tomato chair with the help of the Seating Clinic so that we can start working on oral feedings soon, when we get Cora's vent settings a little lower. She's currently on a PIP of 36... can you believe that?! Her highest PIP was 56 for a period of time while on C4A when she was very "fragile" 😉 (iykyk)

I've come into contact with so many more medical parents, especially trach parents, since leaving the NICU. When we hear about the stories of other babes who have been through a NICU for any reason, we can't help but become overwhelmed with gratitude for C4A. It is truly such a gift to be able to have Cora with us, and we owe much of that to you, the staff and clinicians of C4A.
