D-Mannose is good for supporting urinary tract health by helping flush unwanted bacteria from the body.

About 90% of urinary tract infections are caused by E. coli. D-mannose works by giving these bacteria something to bind to as they move through the urinary tract. Instead of attaching to the bladder lining, they bind to D-mannose and can then be eliminated through the urine.

For mild bladder infections, D-mannose may be a helpful supplement to consider before turning to more aggressive interventions. However, symptoms like fever, nausea, vomiting, or back pain can signal a more serious infection and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider.

Hist-Assist is good for supporting a healthy histamine response and reducing allergy symptoms.

When pollen, pet dander, and other allergens trigger the immune system, mast cells release histamine, leading to symptoms like itchy eyes, congestion, sneezing, and a runny nose. Hist-Assist contains a blend of ingredients designed to help stabilize mast cells and support a more balanced response.

Other natural options that may provide support during allergy season include local honey, bee pollen, and targeted sinus-support formulas. These can be especially helpful when high pollen counts leave you feeling miserable.

Rather than simply blocking histamine receptors, supporting the body's natural response to allergens may offer a more balanced approach to seasonal allergy relief.

CoQ10 is good for energy production, cellular health, and antioxidant support.

Every cell in your body relies on tiny structures called mitochondria to produce energy. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) plays a critical role in this process as an essential component of the electron transport chain, the system responsible for generating ATP, the body's primary energy currency.

Because of its central role in mitochondrial function, CoQ10 supports the countless processes throughout the body that depend on adequate energy production. It also serves as an important antioxidant, helping protect cells from oxidative stress.

One group that should pay particular attention to CoQ10 levels is individuals taking statin medications. While statins are commonly prescribed to lower cholesterol, they work by blocking an enzyme that is involved not only in cholesterol production but also in the body's natural production of CoQ10. As a result, CoQ10 levels can become depleted over time.

This is why CoQ10 supplementation is often considered an important part of supporting overall health and energy production, especially for those using statin medications. Higher-potency formulas can provide meaningful levels of this essential nutrient in a convenient serving size.

When it comes to supporting cellular energy, few nutrients are as fundamental as CoQ10.

Hist-Assist is good for supporting a healthy response to seasonal allergies and reducing histamine-related symptoms.

When your immune system reacts to pollen, pet dander, or other environmental triggers, it can cause the familiar symptoms of allergies, itchy eyes, a runny nose, congestion, and sneezing. Hist-Assist is formulated with ingredients that help stabilize mast cells, which are responsible for releasing histamine during an allergic response.

By supporting a balanced immune response and helping regulate histamine release, Hist-Assist may help reduce the severity of common allergy symptoms, especially during peak allergy seasons.

If seasonal allergies tend to slow you down, supporting your body's natural histamine response may be an important part of finding relief.

Save this for the next time you come across Poison Ivy!

Poison ivy is common in Indiana and can cause an intense, itchy, swollen rash in sensitive people.

Key thing: learn to identify it, three leaves with a red stem.

It spreads through an oil on the plant, not person to person. But it can spread through pets or contaminated clothing. Wash skin and clothes with soap and water as soon as possible after exposure.

Avoid scratching, it can worsen the rash and lead to infection.

If exposed, options like vinegar soaks (6:1 water to vinegar), calamine lotion, oatmeal baths, and anti-itch creams can help symptoms. Severe cases may need medical treatment.

If it’s widespread or severe, get checked by a clinician.

Smoking bees puts them in fight or flight!

Smoke does not actually anesthetize bees; it triggers a survival response. Bees interpret smoke as a possible wildfire, so they move into the hive and start consuming honey rather than foraging. That means excessive smoking can disrupt normal colony behavior for days and reduce nectar and pollen collection. Smoke should be used sparingly, because too much of it can stress the hive and interfere with productivity.

Installing Doc's New Bee Nuc!

A nuc, or nucleus colony, is a small starter hive that includes five frames, a queen, and worker bees ready to expand. During installation, it is important to move slowly and avoid sudden movements so the colony stays calm. The queen’s pheromones keep the workers oriented to that hive, which is why they remain loyal to her and do not switch colonies. Fun fact: a lot of the colony’s early energy goes into building comb before they can start making honey!

Dr. Logan got 3 new bee hives! Transporting new bee hives requires care, because even a small gap in the box can let bees escape during the drive like what happened to Doc... These hives came from Hunter’s Honey Farm in Martinsville, Indiana, a third-generation operation with a long-standing beekeeping tradition. Strong equipment and established breeding matter, especially when you are starting a season with new colonies!
