Starting is often the hardest part.

When you have ADHD, a task can feel so big that your brain doesn't know where to begin.

So don't focus on finishing everything.

Just make the first step smaller.

Open the document.
Pick up one item.
Write one sentence.
Set a 2-minute timer.

Sometimes motivation doesn't come before action.

Sometimes action creates the motivation. šŸ’™

What tiny step are you putting off today?

Ever spent 45 minutes staring into a full fridge, completely paralyzed by what to make for lunch? šŸ§ šŸ’„

When you have ADHD, decision fatigue doesn’t just apply to massive life choices. Everyday micro-decisions—what to wear, which email to open first, or what to eat—take up an outsized amount of executive function.

It’s not a lack of willpower; it’s cognitive overload. When your brain struggles to prioritize and filter out background noise, every option carries equal weight.

Swipe through to see why the "ADHD Spiral" happens—and how setting simple, automated defaults can protect your brainpower for what actually matters. āž”ļø

Save this for the next time even the small choices feel like a mountain, or send it to someone who needs the reminder today. šŸ’™

I had the privilege of attending Breakfast with a Purpose today. This amazing event was hosted by a local nonprofit organization called Purposeful Living. This event raises both awareness and financial support for Purposeful Living INC, which has already touched more than 4,000 women in our community.

Purposeful Living INC exists to inspire and transform the modern woman: the woman who feels pressure to have it all together, but behind closed doors she’s hurting, searching, or lonely. We are here to love, to walk alongside, and to encourage women to be all God created us to be: peaceful, joyful, and authentic.
Using inspiring events, empowerment coaching, growth groups, and community support, Purposeful Living is transforming women, marriages, and families. Through the love of Christ in a safe community, women are finding and living out their purpose; thus creating a ripple effect in our world.

I am proud to support Purposeful Living and other great like minded organizations here in Indy!

A little ADHD humour to end the week… šŸ˜…

But seriously: if your brain took the scenic route this week, you’re not failing. ADHD can make starting, switching tasks, and staying focused harder than they look from the outside.

Be kind to yourself. Break big tasks into smaller steps, use reminders and visual cues, and celebrate what you did get done — even if it took a few detours. šŸ’™

Progress doesn’t have to be perfect to count.

Have a good weekend!

Recently, I had the pleasure of welcoming my friend and fellow ADHD specialist, Dr. Nerissa Bauer of Let's Talk Kids Health, to my office!
We first met years ago when she became my children's ADHD specialist and reconnected last year at the International ADHD Conference in Kansas City. It was wonderful catching up, sharing ideas, and discussing new ways we can continue supporting individuals and families with ADHD.

One of my favorite parts of our visit was sharing a preview of my upcoming Academic & Cognitive Advantage Program—a virtual learning platform designed to help students better understand how they learn, strengthen executive functioning, and build lifelong academic success.

I also loved hearing about all the incredible work Nerissa is doing through Let's Talk Kids Health, her virtual education programs, and The ADHD Mom Docs Podcast (highly recommend!). Collaboration like this is how we continue moving ADHD care forward—together.
