Mrs. Moore’s healthcare students participated as mock victims in a preparedness drill for WVU Braxton Memorial Hospital. Afterward, students took part in the debriefing meeting to discuss strengths and weaknesses that occurred during the drill. Thank you Braxton Memorial Hospital for inviting students to gain real world experience and for giving them the opportunity to observe firsthand how hospitals activate emergency plans, triage patients, decontaminated, and coordinate care.

Last week was great, and we want to give a shout out to the Braxton County Rotary Club. 🤗👇

‣ We are incredibly proud of our HOSA students who had the opportunity to present at the Rotary Club meeting this week, sharing their achievements from the State Leadership Conference and outlining their goals as they prepare for the International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was a meaningful experience to connect with community leaders and showcase the impact these opportunities have on student development. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club for their generous $1,000 donation to help offset the cost of attending ILC. Your support is making a difference and helping students take the next big step in their journey as future healthcare professionals in HOSA.

‣ In addition, our students had the opportunity to participate in a community blood screening alongside the Rotary Club this week at WVU Braxton Memorial Hospital. One of our newly certified phlebotomy technicians, Esmeralda Arambula, was also on hand to assist with venipuncture procedures. It was a valuable hands-on learning experience that allowed HOSA students to apply their skills while serving others.

We are so grateful for the support and partnership 🤝🩺♥️

🚨With prom right around the corner, Braxton County HOSA participated in a mock car crash to show what can happen when someone chooses to drive under the influence. It started like any normal day, and in seconds everything changed. Sirens, confusion, heartbreak, and a life lost 💔 That is the reality of impaired driving.

We want to give a huge thank you to Braxton County EMS, Braxton County OES, Flatwoods Community Volunteer Fire Department, Sutton Volunteer Fire Department, Servia Volunteer Fire Department, Frametown Volunteer Fire Department, the Braxton County Sheriff’s Office, and all first responders in Braxton County. Your time, effort, and realism made this experience something our students will never forget 🙏

We are also grateful our HOSA members were able to help bring this message to life:
• Xander Dennison
• Catie Whipkey
• Emma Moore
• Haiden Neff

This may have been a simulation, but the message is real.

As prom approaches, please make smart choices. Celebrate, make memories, and stay safe. If you are under the influence, do not drive 🚫
Make good choices and look out for each other 🤝

One decision can change everything. Let’s make sure everyone makes it home safely.

HOSA students will be there assisting as well! We look forward to taking part and serving our community through a low-cost blood screening event 🩺❤️

These screenings can detect conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, and heart disease early—before they become serious.

This isn’t just about numbers on a chart. It’s about giving people the opportunity to take control of their health, learn more about their bodies, and make informed decisions for their future. 💪
