Today's Topic: Making Bath Time Easier ๐Ÿšฟ

This week's care tip from our care team:
"Reduce shower resistance by setting up the bathroom before your loved one gets out of bed."

For some older adults, especially those living with dementia, bathing can feel overwhelming. Sometimes the challenge isn't the shower itself, it's the transition.

Try having towels, toiletries, and clothing ready ahead of time, and consider starting the shower before inviting your loved one into the bathroom. A calm, prepared environment can make the process feel more natural and less stressful.

Often, a little preparation can make a big difference. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“–NEW Real Talk Article๐Ÿ“–

In Kate Race's latest blog, she tackles one of the most frustrating challenges families face in dementia care: refusals and resistance.

Why does your loved one refuse a shower, medication, meals, or other daily tasks? Often, it's not stubbornness at all. It's confusion, fear, loss of control, or a reality that doesn't match our own.

In this article, Kate shares practical strategies for reducing resistance, improving communication, and approaching difficult situations with compassion instead of confrontation.

Today's Topic: Better Visits ๐Ÿ’ฌ

This week's care tip from our care team:
"Improve the quality of your visits by reducing background noise like the TV."

For someone living with dementia, background noise can make it difficult to focus on a conversation. A television, radio, or multiple conversations happening at once can be overwhelming and make it harder to stay engaged.

Before your next visit, try turning off the TV and finding a quiet space to talk. You may find that your loved one is more relaxed, more engaged, and better able to connect.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments come from removing distractions and simply being present. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒŸ New Google Review! ๐ŸŒŸ

We're so grateful for our incredible caregiver Lilly and for the trust families place in our team during some of life's most challenging moments. It means so much to know Lilly's compassion, knowledge, and dedication make such a difference.

"My husband was cared for by Lilly who treated my husband with gentle care and compassion. She was very knowledgeable regarding Alzheimers. She helped with feeding, toileting him, showering, clothing him, etc. I was not afraid to leave my husband in her care. She is a very trustworthy, caring person. She helped with folding his clothes, towels, etc. We considered her family! What a terrific person and caregiver!" - John B.

๐ŸŒŸ June Caregiver of the Month: Desaray ๐ŸŒŸ

Desaray consistently goes above and beyond, always showing up with a positive attitude and a professional appearance.

Her passion for caregiving comes from a deeply personal place. Having never known her grandparents, Desaray says she treats each of her clients as if they were the grandparents she never had. To her, clients are more than just clients, they're family.

Recently, when one of her clients experienced a fall, Desaray immediately volunteered to accompany her to the hospital so she wouldn't have to be alone. She stayed well beyond her scheduled shift until her client's daughter was able to arrive.

Desaray's dedication is fueled by the love and support of her family, especially her children, who remind her every day that giving up is never an option.

Thank you, Desaray, for the compassion, loyalty, and peace of mind you bring to the families you serve every day. ๐Ÿ’™
