You’re not overreacting. You’re overloaded. There’s a difference.
When you’ve been taking on other people’s emotions for a long time, your system adapts to it.
You start reading people without trying. You start anticipating what they need. You start adjusting yourself to keep things smooth. And eventually, it becomes automatic.
So, when something feels heavy, overwhelming, or off, you don’t question it. You assume it’s just how things are. But it’s not. It’s your system holding more than it should.
And after a while, even small things feel like too much. Not because you’re sensitive. Because you’re carrying what was never meant to stay with you.
If things have been feeling heavier than they should, that’s worth paying attention to.
