I was recently told that I have 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗛.
And let me tell you something…
She meant it as an 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗧.
I received it as a 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧.
In fact, I think I’m going to put it on a shirt.
Maybe a tattoo.
Definitely a banner.
ACTUALLY, this just became a new movement,
𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗛.
Because apparently, believing deeply in the way 𝗚𝗢𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗕𝗢𝗗𝗬 is considered dangerous now.
I was told that I put too much trust in what I call “God’s design for us.”
Well…𝗬𝗘𝗦.
Yes, I do.
I believe God created the human body with an incredible capacity to 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟, 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗘, 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗥, 𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗣𝗧, and 𝗙𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧.
I believe our bodies were designed with purpose.
I believe food matters.
I believe sleep matters.
I believe sunlight matters.
I believe movement matters.
I believe the nervous system matters.
I believe the gut matters.
I believe our environment matters.
I believe emotional and spiritual health matter.
And most of all…
I believe 𝗚𝗢𝗗 𝗞𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗗𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗦.
Does that mean we never need help?
𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗬 𝗡𝗢𝗧.
Do we need physicians, nurses, testing, medications, procedures, surgery, emergency medicine, and conventional care at times?
𝗬𝗘𝗦.
Do we also need integrative medicine, nutrition, lifestyle intervention, restoration, prevention, and people willing to ask 𝗪𝗛𝗬 the body is struggling in the first place?
𝗬𝗘𝗦.
Those things are not enemies.
Faith and medicine are not enemies.
Science and God are not enemies.
At Mountainside, we believe in supporting the body, investigating root causes, using appropriate medical intervention when it is needed, and never forgetting the extraordinary design God placed within the human body.
So if believing that God created us with an incredible ability to heal…
If believing that our job is sometimes to remove the obstacles, nourish the body, support its systems, and give it what it needs…
If believing that 𝗚𝗢𝗗’𝗦 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦…
makes my faith “dangerous”…
Well, dang.
I’ll wear that badge 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗗𝗟𝗬.
𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗛.
Dangerous to hopelessness.
Dangerous to complacency.
Dangerous to the idea that people should stop asking questions.
Dangerous to the belief that there is nothing more that can be done.
Because around here, we are going to keep asking questions.
We are going to keep searching for answers.
We are going to keep helping people understand their bodies.
We are going to keep combining wisdom, science, medicine, nutrition, restoration, and 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗛.
And we are going to keep reminding people that there is always room for 𝗛𝗢𝗣𝗘.
Anchored in Christ.
Rooted in Whole-Person Healing.
And apparently…a little bit of 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗛.
𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚…
To Ms. Negativity who called my faith “dangerous”…
𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨.
Look what you fired up in me.
I have a feeling 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗛 is about to become a whole lot bigger than one conversation.
Videos. Blogs. Hard conversations. Hope.
𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗘𝗗.
You may have meant it as an insult.
I think you just named the movement.
