It was my pleasure to stop by this event and partner with Girls Who Hike Virginia to talk about safety on the trail. Knowledge and Confidence are the key ingredients of Wilderness First Aid. I can’t wait to see what 2027 brings!

When in doubt, call 911. Even better, take a class to build your confidence to give care to the best of your ability.

STOP SHARING THIS NONSENSE!!!! I can’t tell you how many women I’ve seen share this on their page. This information is wrong and dangerous. If you think you are having a heart attack, stop what you were doing and call 911. Your dispatchers are trained to tell you what to do while you wait for help to arrive. Dr. Google and Pharmacy-Facebook are not medical professionals. Know the signs, take a first aid and CPR class if you can, and when in doubt- get checked out!

08/02/2026

Know the signs, ladies. We are 25% more likely than men to die of a heart attack outside of the hospital because many of the signs are “normal” for us. When in doubt, get checked out!

Did you know Spotify has a CPR playlist? What’s your favorite 100-120 beats per minute tune?

Rise Above has a limited supply of injectable naloxone available!

Reach out to our team or come see us to get your kit. We'll also provide a quick training so you can feel comfortable using it if an overdose happens.

How to use injectable naloxone:
1. Check for responsiveness and call 911
2. Draw 1 mL of naloxone into the syringe.
3. Inject it into a large muscle such as the upper arm, thigh, or buttock.
4. Give 2 rescue breaths, then continue with 1 rescue breath every 5 seconds.
5. Stay with the person until EMS arrives.

Some people prefer injectable naloxone because one vial can provide multiple doses, it's often more cost effective, and it can be useful when the nose is blocked or severely injured.

Each kit comes with a CPR shield, 2 vials of naloxone, and 2 syringes.
