Some moments in this job stay with you long after the appointment is over.
On Tuesday morning, I had the privilege of meeting a breast cancer warrior and one of her closest friends, who is also bravely battling ovarian cancer. They were the sweetest, kindest women and truly the best way to start my day.
What struck me most wasn’t just their strength, but the bond they shared. The way they supported each other, encouraged each other, and found light through some incredibly difficult chapters of life was something special to witness. Their story has been on my heart ever since.
Today, a flower delivery arrived at my studio. Beautiful pink roses… so fitting for a breast cancer warrior… along with the sweetest thank-you note from her friend. It completely melted me.
I also have to say how surreal and special it feels that somehow, the head surgeon at UC Davis and Sutter referred her to me. That is something I don’t take lightly, and it truly means so much.
People often think my job is simply about beauty, but if you peel back all the layers, it’s so much more than that.
Yes, I help women feel beautiful and confident. But sometimes I get to help women prepare for one of the toughest battles of their lives. Sometimes I get to give them their permanent makeup before they begin chemotherapy, helping lessen the feeling of loss that can come when cancer takes their hair. In a small way, it makes me feel like I’m standing beside them… fighting alongside them.
Sometimes I get to help restore confidence after treatment. Sometimes I get to help piece together something that feels like it was taken from them and give them a small sense of normalcy again.
Those moments are never lost on me.
I feel incredibly blessed that this career found me and that it has connected me with so many strong, inspiring women. The trust my clients place in me is something I never take for granted.
To these two beautiful souls… thank you. Thank you for reminding me why I love what I do and for allowing me to be a small part of your journey. 💗🌹
