Comprehensive Physical Therapy, Inc. Outpatient Physical & Occupational Therapy Practice in Forest City, Hawley, Honesdale, Carbondale, & Dunmore. Therapy with a Smile!

"CPT" is an outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy practice. Suzanne and Stephen Atcavage, both physical therapists, opened their first office at the Forest City location in 1997. Since 1997, the practice has expanded to five locations - Forest City, Hawley, Carbondale, Dunmore, and Honesdale. Lymphedema care, sports medicine, Board Certified Hand Therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, Parkinson's Disease programs and pelvic floor rehabilitation are among the specialty care services offered. ✨The next meeting of the Wayne-Pike Parkinson's Support Group will be on Wednesday, September 17th at 4:30 pm. The meeting will be held at Wayne Memorial Hospital in the David Katz Room on the second floor.

This meeting will follow a peer group discussion format, with two groups - those fighting Parkinson's will meet, and separately, care partners will convene. 🤝Sharing experiences and insights is a wonderful way to learn and also support each other. In the words of Michael J. Fox, “We may each have our own individual Parkinson’s, but we all share one thing in common. Hope”

📲Please contact Janene DuBois, Coordinator at [email protected]; (570) 253-8395 or Suzanne Atcavage, DPT, NCS at [email protected]; (570) 251-3499 or message us here for more information.

💡Do you know the difference between tendonitis and tendinosis?

👉Both are forms of tendon pain and swelling. But “tendonitis” is an acute injury caused by inflammation; “tendinosis” is a result of degeneration over time and takes longer to resolve.

👩‍⚕️They involve different strategies for treating, and it’s important to know the difference.

🔥If inflammation (or tendonitis) is the issue, the goal of therapy is to reduce irritation and calm the tissue.

💪If tissue degeneration (tendinosis) is the problem, the tendon needs gradual mechanical loading (exercise-based repair) to stimulate healing. Rest, ice, and stretching are not typically enough to improve tendonosis, and neither is pushing through the pain aggressively.
