"CPT" is an outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy practice. Suzanne and Stephen Atcavage, both physical therapists, opened their first office at the Forest City location in 1997. Since 1997, the practice has expanded to five locations - Forest City, Hawley, Carbondale, Dunmore, and Honesdale. The practice is inspired by the goal to provide patient-focused care and the use of evidence-based

medicine to ensure the provision of effective, customized care, specific to each client's need. At CPT, the patient is NOT a number. Lymphedema care, sports medicine, Board Certified Hand Therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, Parkinson's Disease programs and pelvic floor rehabilitation are among the specialty care services offered. A good candidate for joint replacement surgery is an individual who is experiencing severe joint pain & stiffness. 🦵However, several factors must be considered by the surgeon prior to recommending a total joint replacement, such as:

💥Do the pain & stiffness interfere with daily activities like walking, getting in & out of a chair, or making a fist?

💥Do you have significant pain in your joint at rest?

💥Do you have swelling or inflammation that is not improving with rest, physical or occupational therapy, or medicine?

💥Is there deformity to the joint?

👉Additional factors that consider the individual’s overall health are important as well, including blood test results, physical strength, age, bone density, & lifestyle.

👀Notice the effects of osteoarthritis on the joints of her hands. The bony outgrowths on the middle joints of her fingers are called Bouchard's nodes, & the bony outgrowths on the joints closest to the fingertips are called Heberden's nodes.

👉These deformities develop due to cartilage breakdown & repeated joint trauma. When the cartilage wears away, bone-on-bone friction & inflammation begin, leading to bony outgrowth.

We want to welcome two new clinicians who have recently joined our CPT family! 💙

✨Sofia Carmody, PTA, is a 2017 graduate of the Lackawanna College Physical Therapy Assistant program. She has worked in outpatient rehabilitation for the past 9 years, and thus, brings a wide depth of outpatient experience to our Carbondale clinic. Sofia's clinical interests include working with individuals who are post-op joint replacements and working with women who are postpartum. Welcome, Sofia!!

✨Blaise Albright, PT, DPT, received his Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management from Misericordia University in 2022. He then graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Misericordia University in 2025. Blaise will be practicing at our Honesdale location. His clinical interests include neurological rehabilitation (e.g., CVA, Parkinson's disease) and vestibular rehabilitation. Happy to have you here, Blaise!!

🌟"I cherish the opportunity to work with our smallest clients from birth to 3 years of age. Sometimes, newborns have difficulty turning their head in one direction, which can interfere with sleep and eating. This is often treated with gentle stretching, positioning, and baby-safe postural activities to engage the muscles of the neck and trunk". 🌟

Did you know?💡 Men can have pelvic floor dysfunction, too!

👨‍🦰Men can suffer from many of the same urinary & bowel issues women do, including incontinence, constipation, & coccyx (tailbone) pain.

👉Some male-specific issues relate to prostate cancer & prostatectomies. Pelvic floor physical therapy is often needed during or after cancer treatment.

Your providers at CPT treat both men & women and are happy to help you. Everyone has a pelvis!
