🍂 SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER (SAD) ❄️

As the seasons change, you may notice changes in your mood, energy, sleep, motivation, or daily routine. For some people, these changes can become more significant and may be associated with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern.

You may experience:
• Persistent sadness or low mood
• Decreased energy or motivation
• Changes in sleep or appetite
• Difficulty concentrating
• Loss of interest in activities you normally enjoy
• Increased feelings of isolation or withdrawal

💙 You don’t have to navigate these changes alone.

Recognizing the signs early and talking with a qualified mental health professional can be an important step toward feeling better.

At King’s Mindfulness Center, we provide compassionate psychiatric care and support for adults, with both in-person and virtual appointments available.

King’s Mindfulness Center is honored and grateful to sponsor the Toms River Seahawks Pop Warner Football program!

We believe in investing in our youth and supporting the organizations that help our children build confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and lifelong connections. The lessons learned on the field extend far beyond the game—and we are proud to play a small part in supporting these young athletes as they grow.

Grateful to Give Back 💙👑

King’s Mindfulness Center would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to showcase our business at Family Fun Day on August 15th! 🎉

It was truly a pleasure connecting with families, meeting members of our community, sharing information about mental health and wellness, and simply being part of such a wonderful day.

At King’s Mindfulness Center, we believe that mental wellness is a community effort, and giving back is an important part of what we do. We are grateful for the opportunity to support, educate, and connect with the community we serve.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a conversation, showed support, or simply welcomed us with open arms. Your support means more than you know! 💙

Here’s to continuing to build a healthier, stronger, and more mindful community—one connection at a time. 👑🧠✨ ~Dr. Marshall

Most people know GLP-1 medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound® for helping with weight loss and diabetes—but researchers are discovering they may also influence the brain’s dopamine reward system.

Dopamine is the neurotransmitter involved in motivation, reward, and reinforcement. GLP-1 receptors are found in areas of the brain responsible for cravings and reward, and activation of these receptors may:

✨ Reduce food cravings and emotional eating
✨ Decrease the rewarding effects of highly processed foods
✨ Lower impulsive or compulsive behaviors in some individuals
✨ Potentially reduce cravings for substances such as alcohol or ni****ne (an area of ongoing research)

While these findings are exciting, GLP-1 medications are not currently approved to treat addiction or psychiatric disorders, and more research is needed to understand their long-term effects on mental health.

As a psychiatric provider, I believe it’s important to recognize that the brain and body are deeply connected. Understanding how medications influence neurotransmitters like dopamine helps us appreciate that treating physical health can also affect emotional and behavioral well-being.

If you’re taking a GLP-1 medication and notice changes in your mood, motivation, cravings, or behaviors, discuss these changes with your healthcare provider. Personalized care is always the best approach.

💙 Healthy minds and healthy bodies work together. ~Dr. Marshall

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from King’s Mindfulness Center! ❤️🤍💙

Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, the resilience of our communities, and the people who make them strong.

While many are spending the day with family, friends, and fireworks, we also recognize that holidays can bring mixed emotions. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, grieving, anxious, or simply not yourself today, know that your feelings are valid. It’s okay to celebrate in your own way—or to take time for rest and self-care.

This Independence Day, remember that caring for your mental health is one of the greatest acts of strength. Whether that means setting healthy boundaries, taking a quiet moment to breathe, reaching out to a loved one, or seeking professional support, your well-being matters.

From all of us at King’s Mindfulness Center, we wish you a safe, peaceful, and joyful Fourth of July.

✨ Be safe. Be present. Take care of your mind.

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, father figures, and caregivers who provide love, guidance, strength, and support every day.

At King’s Mindfulness Center, we recognize the important role fathers play in the emotional well-being of their families and communities. We also encourage dads to remember that caring for your own mental health is just as important as caring for those you love.

Wishing all fathers a day filled with appreciation, joy, and meaningful moments with the people who matter most.

Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Today, we honor Juneteenth—a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality.

At King’s Mindfulness Center, we recognize that mental health and wellness are deeply connected to our lived experiences, history, and communities. We celebrate the strength, contributions, and rich cultural heritage of Black individuals and communities while acknowledging the ongoing importance of equity, healing, and access to compassionate mental health care.

As we reflect on this meaningful day, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space where every person feels seen, heard, and valued.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚

Bipolar disorder is more than mood swings—it is a complex mental health condition that can affect emotions, energy levels, sleep, and daily functioning.

The good news? With the right treatment plan, including mood stabilizers, therapy, and healthy lifestyle habits, many individuals living with bipolar disorder can achieve stability and lead fulfilling lives.

Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you or someone you love is struggling, know that support is available and recovery is possible. 💜 ~Dr. Marshall
