Happy Oral Hygiene Month! Here's our hot tip for the week: A Clean Smile Starts with a Clean Toothbrush!

Most people think rinsing their toothbrush with hot water cleans it…the real bacteria trap isn’t the bristles, it’s the hidden “tuft holes” at the very base of the brush head!

When toothbrushes are made, bristles are punched deep into tiny holes in the plastic. Every time you brush, water gets trapped inside those dark, microscopic pockets. Because it’s closed off from the air, that water sits stagnant for hours. Running hot water over it will introduce warmth, creating the perfect, damp incubator for mold and bathroom bacteria right inside your brush.

How to fix it in 2 seconds:

Stop trying to boil it: Hot water won’t sanitize those deep pockets anyway, and can wear the bristles down quicker.
The Sink Tap: After rinsing, firmly tap your toothbrush handle against the edge of the sink a few times to shake the trapped water out of the base.
Air it Out: Always store your brush completely upright in the open air so the moisture can evaporate.

Stay tuned for more dental tips throughout the month!

🎃 A Little Teamwork, Creativity, and Pumpkin Fun! 🍂
Who says team building can't be a little messy?! 😄
Dr. Kind planned a fun fall team-building activity for our crew this morning! We paired up into teams of two, rolled up our sleeves, and put our creativity to the test with some pumpkin carving!
And what better way to wrap up a fun morning than with some delicious pie and ice cream for lunch?! 🥧🍦
We love opportunities like these to step away from our busy schedules, enjoy each other's company, and make memories together.
A big thank you to Dr. Kind for planning such a fun event! We are so grateful for this team and the friendships that make coming to work each day so special! 🧡

This Dental Hygiene Month, we’re celebrating the incredible hygienists who care for our patients every day: Linda, Michelle, Jessica, Stephennie, Rachelle, and Jenny!
Together, these six amazing women bring an incredible 120 years of combined dental hygiene experience to 201 Waterfront Dental! That’s 120 years of caring for patients, building relationships, educating families, and helping generations of smiles stay healthy.
We’re so grateful for the knowledge, compassion, and dedication they bring to our office, and especially for the way they make each patient feel cared for as an individual.

Last Thursday and Friday, our team switched things up and spent two days learning together! We watched the recordings from the 2025 Airway Palooza, put on by Airway Health Solutions, with plenty of yummy food to keep us fueled along the way. 😊

The event focused on airway-centered treatment and the important role we can play as a dental team in recognizing airway concerns and helping our patients get the care they need.

One of the best parts about doing continuing education together as a team is being able to bounce ideas off each other, ask questions, and talk about how we can put what we’re learning into practice. It makes learning more fun, and so much more valuable!

We love that our team is always willing to keep learning, growing, and looking at the bigger picture when it comes to our patients’ health. ❤️
