🌍 Behind every great training system are people whose experience was earned in the real world.

One of the most rewarding aspects of building Aemulus XR has been bringing together experts from different continents who, despite serving in different countries and organizations, followed remarkably similar paths. Throughout their military careers, both had the opportunity to operate, train, and support missions in many of the same regions around the world, gaining firsthand experience in combat medicine, tactical operations, and medical training.

🔹 Walter Engle – Chief Medical Officer
Walter is a military veteran with 22 years of experience in military and pre-hospital medicine. Beginning his career as a Combat Medic and later becoming a Physician Assistant , he completed nine overseas deployments providing casualty care across the entire continuum of battlefield medicine.
During his career, Walter commanded the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center (JSOMTC), directed the Combat Casualty Care Course , and played a key role in developing advanced medical simulation and combat medical training programs.

He is also an Associate Professor, published author, and co-author of several landmark military medical references, including the Joint Trauma System Prolonged Casualty Care Guidelines and the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Handbook.

🔹 Lukasz Jurczak – European Medical Consultant
Lukasz is a 22-year veteran who began his career as a tactical operator in a SWAT unit before joining a Polish Military Special Mission Unit. Rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major, he was responsible for the development of medical procedures and international cooperation in the field of combat medicine.

Throughout his career, he participated in numerous overseas missions. He also co-created the medical training program for the Ukrainian Special Forces, which was later adopted within NATO frameworks.

🇵🇱 We recently had the opportunity, together with our distributor, to present the Aemulus XR system at the 5th Military Clinical Hospital in Poland.

As a country bordering Ukraine, Poland continues to rapidly develop its capabilities in military medical education and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) training.

Modern combat medicine requires not only knowledge, but also scalable and repeatable training solutions that can support personnel readiness at every level.

🪖Not every life-threatening hemorrhage can be controlled with a tourniquet.

Hemostatic gauze is designed to control severe bleeding in areas where a tourniquet cannot be effectively applied — such as the groin, axilla, or deep junctional wounds.

Unlike standard gauze, hemostatic dressings contain agents that support rapid clot formation and improve hemorrhage control in critical situations.

📌 But effective wound packing is not just about “filling the wound”.

It requires:
✔️ proper wound exposure
✔️ locating the bleeding source
✔️ deep wound packing
✔️ sustained direct pressure
✔️ continuous reassessment
✔️ securing the wound with an additional dressing

🩸 TCCC Guidelines 2026 continue to emphasize that applying a tourniquet is only the beginning.

The updated guidelines place increasing focus on reassessment, time monitoring, and informed decision-making regarding tourniquet conversion — especially at the ASM / CLS (Tier 1 / Tier 2) level.

📌 In practice, this means one thing:
it is no longer enough to simply recognize life-threatening extremity hemorrhage.

Proper ex*****on of the entire procedure matters.

✔️ Proper tourniquet application
✔️ Aggressive strap tightening
✔️ Windlass tightening
✔️ Windlass securing
✔️ Confirmation of hemorrhage control and absence of distal pulse
✔️ Time marking
✔️ Continuous casualty monitoring
