Pelvic floor PT should give you confidence and teach you how to continue what you love to do at whatever capacity you CAN do!

Can’t run a mile without pelvic pain? What about running for 30 second intervals?

Can’t do 10 reps of jump rope without leaking? What about 2?

Especially during pregnancy and postpartum there can be a lot of fear around movement and that’s definitely not what we want for you as pelvic floor physical therapists, especially when movement is such a big part of a lot of peoples mental health

So let’s do rehab AND keep doing what you love at whatever capacity makes sense for the season of life you’re in while we build up for where you want to be 🩷

Yup physical therapists need physical therapy too 🤍

My knee has been doing some weird things lately and I just finally decided I needed to have another physical therapist look at it

Having someone look at it and tell me what they thought was going on and what I needed to work on was so relieving😅

Lesson here for everyone: if you’re unsure of what’s going on it’s worth just having someone do an evaluation! This is especially true for the pelvic floor! So many go months just wondering if what they’re feeling is normal or not and it’s so reassuring to just have someone take a look at everything (🙋‍♀️ I can help!)

Thank you Dr. Katie at Refuge Physiotherapy for taking a look at everything and giving me a plan of what to work on! Excited to keep progressing!

I’ve been getting a lot of comments on some of my exercise videos asking “will this work if I have x” or “how can I modify this if I can’t get on the floor” and “is this safe if I have x diagnosis”

And I can answer all of those IF I do an evaluation on you, your history, and how your body is moving but I can’t blindly make specific recommendations for a singular person without ever seeing them. And although there maybe common patterns related to a condition or symptom, everyone is different. So the approach that works for you specifically will probably different than for someone else with the same symptom.

So here’s what I want you to keep in mind when seeing exercise videos on the internet

For me, I personally make them to educate and to show what physical therapy might look like with me as the clinician

But it doesn’t mean they will work for everyone and there’s no such thing as one magic exercise for a specific diagnosis like diastasis recti or low back pain.

2 people could have the same symptom, let’s say leakage with jumping but the REASON why they are leaking can be completely DIFFERENT

That’s why if you are having symptoms like back/pelvic pain, diastasis recti, bladder/bowel health issues, or sexual dysfunction that’s not getting better➡️

It’s time to get an evaluation to get specific exercises and recommendations for your WHY so you can start feeling better 🤍

For when that SIJ is feeling tender, here are some gentle movements to do to reduce pain and maintain movement!

There’s a saying in physical therapy that goes “motion is the lotion”. Basically what we mean by that is that the right movement actually will make painful joints feel better and is way better than just not moving.

If you’ve got a painful back or SIJ that doesn’t seem to be getting better, reach out! This is something pelvic floor physical therapists can help with! 🙋‍♀️
