We are so proud to be working with to harvest our Arnica this year.

Mala Making Workshop with Jean Parker-Renga

Beaded necklaces are used in various spiritual practices around the globe as aids to meditation. 

From malas to rosaries, this form of guiding your mind into a calm space can help anyone, from novice to seasoned meditation practitioner, hone their practice.

A traditional Mala consists of 108 beads, 1 guru bead, and a tassel or charm. It is passed through the fingers as a mantra is recited on each bead helping you to more deeply connect with yourself and quiet your mind.

In this workshop Jean Parker-Renga, jewelry maker and owner of Lily’s Cocoon, will guide you in the creation of your own gemstone mala to use in your practice or simply as a lovely necklace to wear.

All materials are included in the cost of the workshop with a variety of gemstones to choose from.

Jean Parker-Renga is a yoga teacher and jewelry artist in Fort Collins, Colorado, who focuses on malas, power bracelets, eye pillows and other yoga-themed jewelry and accessories.

A native of Indiana, Jean has been making jewelry since she was 6 years old and started her jewelry, yoga and craft business, Lily’s Cocoon, in 2003. Her work is featured in several local businesses, including Golden Poppy, and Live Beyond Limit.

Jean also holds yoga certifications through the American Viniyoga Institute, teaches weekly classes and workshops, and practices reiki at Live Beyond Limit.

This week owner and founder of The Golden Poppy, Sarah Josey headed up to Paonia to harvest Arnica for the store 😍🌼

And we wanted to give you a sneak peek into the beauty that is Arnica! We use this beautiful plant in a few of our products by making fresh plant infused oil

Finding the best herbs for our products is PARAMOUNT at The Golden Poppy. And making sure everything is handmade and loved by one of our herbalists is priority number one.

This is also why we are so excited to have had Rockin Roots Farm grown our arnica for us this year

Wild Plant Connection: Plant Meditation & Medicinal Plant Walk with Clinical Herbalist Brita LaTona .LaTona.Herbalist

At this time of year many wild plants are at their fullest expression. From wild weeds to medicinal trees, there is healing medicine all around us.

Join me in this class as we get to know local medicinal plants and the ways these generous plants offer abundance and healing.

We will get to know a few specific Wild Plants in the Rocky Mountains, and learn their medicinal actions.

We will also briefly discuss the Intuitive Plant Healing approach to communing with plants. We will engage in a nature/plant mindfulness meditation and embark on a medicinal plant walk at Lee Martinez Park. 

You will walk away with:

*Identification of a handful of common medicinal plants in the front range

*Knowledge of medicinal plants actions and common uses. 

*A few easy ways to make medicine with wild weeds

* Intro to Intuitive Plant Healing

Class will be taught outaide. Bring appropriate clothing, water bottle, and sunscreen.
