🤝 Advocacy is strongest when we work together. 💙🎗️

This week, Debbie's Dream Foundation and our advocacy partners reached an important milestone when H. pylori screening report language was included in the House Armed Services Committee's FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) package.

Continued collaboration has been an important component of our success so far.

Since 2024, Debbie's Dream Foundation has been bringing together a coalition of organizations representing the stomach cancer community to encourage Congress to evaluate the feasibility and cost of H. pylori testing and treatment for certain members of the Armed Forces.

This year, we expanded that coalition to include not only stomach cancer organizations, but also veterans' organizations, digestive disease advocates, physician groups, and military stakeholders.

This growing coalition is helping elevate conversations surrounding health, prevention, and stomach cancer risk reduction while building momentum for future prevention-focused policy efforts.

We are grateful to our coalition partners for their continued collaboration and support:

• American College of Gastroenterology (ACG)
• American Gastroenterological Association (AGA)
• American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE)
• Army Week Association
• Digestive Disease National Coalition (DDNC)
• GI Cancers Alliance
• Hope for Stomach Cancer
• International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD)
• Jacqueline Rush Foundation
• No Stomach For Cancer
• Project Periwinkle
• The Raymond Foundation
• Sgt. Sullivan Circle
• Veterans for Common Sense

👏 Thank you, Rep Joe Wilson 💙🎗️

Debbie’s Dream Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Rep. Joe Wilson for his leadership in championing the inclusion of H. pylori screening report language in the House Armed Services Committee’s FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) package.

As a longtime supporter of efforts to advance stomach cancer awareness, research, prevention, and military health initiatives, Rep. Wilson has helped elevate an issue that has the potential to improve health outcomes for service members and veterans who may be at increased risk of H. pylori infection and its associated long-term consequences.

This important advocacy milestone would not have been possible without congressional champions willing to listen to advocates, engage with the scientific community, and pursue meaningful policy solutions.

We are grateful for Rep. Wilson’s leadership and partnership throughout this effort, and we look forward to continuing to work with him as the legislative process moves forward.

We are counting on his continued leadership to help get this initiative across the finish line and ensure that military leaders receive the information needed to evaluate a future H. pylori screening and prevention program.

This milestone also belongs to the advocates, veterans, researchers, physicians, and supporters who have worked tirelessly to elevate this issue since 2024.

Thank you, Rep. Wilson, for your leadership, partnership, and commitment to the stomach cancer community.

A stomach cancer diagnosis changes life in an instant.

Juanita’s story is a reminder that stomach cancer impacts far more than a diagnosis alone. The physical, emotional, and long-term effects of treatment continue well beyond the initial fight.

Stories like this highlight the importance of recognizing symptoms, seeking answers, and understanding the role early detection can play in outcomes.

Behind every diagnosis is a person adapting to a new reality while continuing to move forward with strength and resilience. 💙

At Debbie’s Dream Foundation, we remain committed to supporting patients, caregivers, and families through every stage of the stomach cancer journey.

🎉🚨 An important advocacy milestone reached.💙🎗️
Today, the House Armed Services Committee approved its FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) bill, which includes H. pylori screening report language in the Committee's FY2027 NDAA package.

The accompanying report directs the Department of Defense to develop a plan, cost estimate, and feasibility study for H. pylori testing and treatment for certain Active Duty servicemembers.

This represents an important milestone for Debbie's Dream Foundation and the advocates, veterans, researchers, physicians, and community partners who have worked tirelessly to elevate this issue since 2024.

The inclusion of this language reflects growing congressional recognition of the importance of prevention-focused approaches to reducing stomach cancer risk within military communities and creates an important opportunity to advance this issue through federal policy.

While additional legislative steps remain before the National Defense Authorization Act becomes law, today's action represents an important step forward.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Rep. Joe Wilson for championing this effort, as well as House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, Ranking Member Adam Smith, Military Personnel Subcommittee Chair Pat Fallon, and Ranking Member Chrissy Houlahan for their bipartisan leadership and support.

This milestone belongs to every advocate who shared their story, participated in Advocacy Day, signed an action alert, attended meetings, supported our efforts, or helped raise awareness.

Thank you for helping move this issue into the national policy conversation.

June is National Cancer Survivors Month 💙

This month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and courage of survivors within the stomach cancer community and beyond.

Survivorship is more than reaching the end of treatment. It’s navigating recovery, long-term care, follow-up appointments, and learning to move forward one day at a time.

Your stories continue to inspire, raise awareness, and remind others that they are never alone on this journey.

We are honored to support survivors every step of the way.

💙🎗️ Volunteers help bring our mission to life.

As we reflect on , we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lisa Bartoszewicz, Angie Faralli, and Allison Leviton for volunteering their time at the Debbie’s Dream Foundation booth.

Throughout the conference, they helped welcome visitors, share information about DDF's programs and resources, and engage with members of the global cancer community. Their willingness to share their personal connections to our mission helped create meaningful conversations and raise awareness about stomach cancer.

We are especially grateful to Angie, who honors the memory of her sister, Gina, through her support of DDF, and to Allison, whose friendship and commitment to the cause continue to make a difference.

As an added highlight, Lisa was interviewed during the conference, providing another opportunity to elevate the patient voice and share the importance of advocacy, awareness, and support.
