What if the “knot” you keep trying to work out… isn’t really a knot?
We’ve been taught to think of painful areas as tight tissue that needs to be stretched, smashed, released, or worked on harder.
But pain is more complicated than that.
Sometimes an area hurts because the nervous system has become more sensitive and protective — meaning more pressure isn’t necessarily the answer.
Good bodywork isn’t just about forcing tissue to change. It’s about understanding what your body is communicating and giving the nervous system new, safe sensory input.
That’s why at Repose Well Recovery, we don’t believe the most effective massage is always the deepest massage.
Sometimes the goal is pressure.
Sometimes it’s movement.
Sometimes it’s calming sensitivity.
Sometimes it’s simply finding the input your body responds to best.
Your body isn’t a collection of knots that need to be beaten into submission.
Understand your body. Work with it — not against it.
Save this one if you’ve ever wondered why that same “knot” keeps coming back. 🌿
