✨ready for a killer deal on hormone help?✨

Disclaimer: I’ve felt so torn on not wanting to contribute to the noise & consumerism of the holiday season, BUT truly wanting to support as many women as possible to reach their health goals. So I decided to put together some special, shorter packages to support you during this busy season! My goal is to make wellness accessible if that's on your Christmas list this year 😉

And, as always, feel free to skip if that doesn’t serve you best right now💕

P.S. all of these packages can also be purchased for a friend or loved one- this work could totally change someone's life versus buying a generic gift they may never use! AND all packages come with a payment plan option, as I know how hard this time of year can be (again, me 🤝accessibility)

Comment or DM me "Black Friday" and I'll get you all of the links & the rest of the deets!

If you've ever wondered what gut health has to do with hormones, you're not alone.

A few ways the gut impacts our hormone balance is:

✅regulating our estrogen levels via the estrobolome🦠
✅converting thyroid hormone into its active form💪🏼
✅absorbing the macro & micronutrients that form the building block of our hormones🧱
✅detoxifying our bodies from the chemicals, heavy metals, pathogens, and other toxins we encounter in everyday life so our bodies can thrive!🧪
(This is by no means an exhaustive list.)

It's important to remember that the body is a system & when one system is out of whack, others surely will be too. This is why you can't "fix your hormones" without holistically addressing many other aspects of your health like gut health, liver detoxification, blood sugar balance & adrenal stabilization, etc.

After a particularly stressful month (shoutout to all of my Hurricane Ian girlies), my period came a day late and I’m not feeling so hot 😵‍💫

BUT am I surprised? Nope! This is how my body typically responds to significantly stressful events throughout the month so I totally saw this coming.

Sometimes I don’t realize how much stress I’ve been under until my period’s out of whack and this gives me a great hint that something is off (reason #163525 why I look forward to my period as biometric feedback, but I digress)

I was thinking about how many women aren’t aware of the way stress affects the body and may be totally thrown off if their period comes late, early, or with more PMS & pain than usual- which can often increase stress even more if you’re totally blindsided!

All of these changes are common reactions to stress and typically resolve within the next couple of cycles, as long as you’re able to get your stress under better control.

I’m curious, what changes have you noticed in your period after a stressful month? ⬇️

I don't know about you, but I love seeing so many "good, better, best" or "product swap" posts on social media to get inspo for cleaner alternatives that exist for current products or foods I may be using. It can take a bit of time and effort to research alternatives on my own and sometimes my eyes are opened to potentially harmful exposures I wasn't yet aware of! 😳

BUT I also know how overwhelming it can all get, especially if you are just beginning to transition into a more natural or "clean" lifestyle. Maybe you've started to accept that your beloved Dove deodorant, drugstore make-up, plastic storage containers, and Bath&Body Works candles are affecting your health- but what's the next step?

It can be so hard to figure out where to start without breaking the bank or driving yourself crazy so here's a few strategies I suggest trying. Pick the one that feels the least overwhelming (that means you'll be more likely to follow through) and start taking action ASAP.

Bonus tip: for researching better alternatives to a product you use or to learn more about how the ingredients in a favorite product may be affecting your health, I like to use websites like EWG's Skin Deep or ThinkDirty. (A word of caution- these apps, unfortunately, have fallen influence to payouts from certain brands but I believe can still be a good starting place)

P.S. I know some people may say something like, "we're all going to die of something eventually who, cares", or "I've been using these products my whole life and I'm still okay". If you're in these camps, I want you to consider that there is a difference between surviving & thriving- if you are using toxic products and experience hormonal imbalances, inflammation, chronic disease, fatigue, allergies, etc just know that this is no coincidence and it may be time to consider another way.

Toronto photo dump

So I'm a little late to the party but took some time after visiting Toronto a couple of weeks ago to integrate (and catch up on some sleep!).

I met SO many amazing, heart-centered entrepreneurs at the conference I attended, Archangel Nexus, and walked away brimming with ideas and inspiration.

My 2 biggest takeaways were:

1. "Structure creates freedom". Structure is something I've resisted lately because I love to let my creativity flow and have been practicing a lot with following my joy. BUT I do think there's something to be said for striking a balance between both structure and freedom in reaching your goals so this is what I'm practicing now.

1. "The only difference between anxiety & excitement is what you think the outcome will be". This really struck me when I heard it and has created an entirely new awareness in my thoughts. Now, when I begin procrastinating something or feeling anxious about it, I find myself taking a step back and examining why these feelings are coming up. Every single time it's because I've been envisioning the worst-case scenario results for. But what if we choose to imagine differently? I find that when I instead envision the best-case scenario, I feel so excited to complete the task and bring this new vision to life. I challenge you to try this the next time you are feeling anxious, and let me know what shifts for you!

Anyways, I had such an amazing time trying out the big city life, eating amazing food, walking holes into my shoes, seeing all of the signs of spring in the city, and getting in some much-needed quality time with my husband.

Did you notice the common denominator in the treatment of all hormonal imbalances 🤔 …

STRESS MANAGEMENT!

I know stress management is not s*xy or exciting BUT it has to be addressed whenever we are talking about hormone health.

You see, when you're chronically stressed, your body is using its resources to create more of the stress hormone (cortisol) and in doing so it must sacrifice making s*x hormones (only limited resources are available). Plus, if your body thinks it is being chased by a lion all the damn time, it doesn't think procreating should probably be a priority right now. I hope you understand how crucial stress management is!

Keep in mind these are general guidelines- its important to develop an individualized plan based on what is causing testosterone imbalances FOR YOU. For example, low testosterone may be related to nutritional deficiencies, chronic stress, overuse of alcohol, or a number of other things. You'll never truly fix the issue until you fix the underlying cause for you.

P.S. I mentioned in the post some supplements you might consider or even hormone replacement. In my opinion, supplements should always come after lifestyle changes and always always always be discussed with your HCP, herbalists, or someone experienced in supplement management that you can trust. There really is no 'one size fits all approach' and you cannot supplement your way out of a bad lifestyle; they are only meant to SUPPLEMENT the work you are already doing. Okay, getting off of my soapbox.

Women tend to focus on progesterone & estrogen when they think about hormonal balance, but did you know that testosterone is actually the most abundant hormone in women? Shocking, I know.

So as you can imagine, having imbalances in testosterone can have a huge range of effects on the body, including changes in fat storage, libido, mood, heart health, bone density, amongst others.

Symptoms of high testosterone are often seen in women with PCOS but can also be related to other disorders, like congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Symptoms of low testosterone are more common as we age but can also stem from a number of underlying disorders. These lists of symptoms are by no means exhaustive but if you experience a number of these symptoms, you may be dealing with a testosterone imbalance.

So now you may be thinking, 'okay, I think I have a testosterone issue but what's the next step?'. And you're in luck! I've got another post coming at ya later this week on supporting your T levels as a woman.
